Popelmon posted:So uh...I have the opportunity to see Chase & Status at a club near me on the 5. of february. The problem is that I have an exam on the 7th. Usually I'm good at prioritizing, but now I really don't know. Is it worth to see them? I mean their stuff is decent, but how good are they live? take the drugs tomorrow and don't see chase and status... you can thank me later

I loving hate his straight-up dancefloor dubstep but things like that are really flipping good. yea honestly early skream was amazing and then for a while he was making some doodoo, but i'd like to think of that as his adolescent stage, but now i think he's had a somewhat of a return to form and his best works are coming out now. i am so glad he is producing jungle and dnb.

he's one of the funnest dudes to party with ever and generally a nice guy, which is why i always supported him and went to his shows whenever they weren't in upstate NY even though i am not the biggest fan of that style of drum and bass. i haven't been active in the scene for two years so i don't have any idea what he's been up to, but i am sure if he's still producing songs he'll always be somewhat popular since his music is very high energy and the dude knows how to have a good time (without chemicals!).

i know for a fact hoogs had spun in baltimore many times... i'm pretty sure there is a jungle community there, i had lived there a few years ago. i mean it could've fallen off since then, but i doubt it cause they are still throwin starscape.

They probably don't want to listen to a chap like me who can spin like the rest of them, but just doesn't have a label to rep, or a club to back me up. give me your mix, if it's good i'll give it to someone who works with circle management... not making any promises that you'll get a gig opening but it's worth a shot

Is Philly still the hypest city in the US for drum and bass? Is there even a scene on the east coast anymore?

HJB posted:The thing is, mainstream dnb is cheesy to a degree, because if it wasn't then it wouldn't sell (gone are the days of Timeless and New Forms). Put another way, I can't stand the artists you mentioned simply because they make pure dnb for the "heads". It's not closed-mindedness as much as the fact that that's how it is. So you don't like the music for the "heads" and only like the cheese? not trying to make fun of you, just trying to understand.

The link he posted was getting caned by a million people so I used one of the cooler features of Mediafire to stick it in my files so you can get at it. I mostly make Jungle and drum and bass, with some other stuff in there. cheese-cube posted:Black Sun Empire and State Of Mind are releasing an EP on the 25th: Until The World Ends. Two tracks have been revealed already and they are insane: What makes these tracks any different than any other generic drum and bass that comes out nowadays? I don't get it, it's all the same song. I haven't been impressed in a while. Om unit and Fracture are like the only dudes doing anything cool nowadays. Someone please show me something interesting because I like playing drum and bass, but I why would I buy any of these tracks when they sound the exact same as my records from 1997. I would love to be absolutely wrong right now, so someone show me something.
