Thanks for the new thread Rageaholic Monkey! OP needs a little more info, but it's a great start! Just noticed last Jungle in the OP, love that tune!

I'm hooked on Spor's Overdue (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FACB8jh_T24) at the moment. For some reason I've really been into female vocals in my dnb lately.

In short, Hospital is the premier liquid funk (lighter style) dnb label. They also have a few sub-labels such as Med School and M*A*S*H. Other labels you might want to check out would be Breakbeat Science, RAM Records, and Metalheadz just to name a few.

Probably late to the party about this, but Sick Music 2 is exactly that.

I can't get enough of Twin Galaxies (The Upbeats Remix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwl0_ehLON4. I'll admit, I didn't think they would be a group that I'd be following as close when I first heard them. I think their ability to pull off different styles unexpectedly well has kept me intersted. Check out their remix for Minuit's Aotearoa for example...http://www.amplifier.co.nz/track/53880/aotearoa-upbeats-remix.html NZ has been killing it electronic music wise over the last few years.

How do you go from Nu:Tone ft Natalie Williams - System I mean come on Nu:tone and Natalie Williams - Strange Encounter for goodness sakes. Now his music sounds more catered towards the jump up market. Maybe I just need to get out more, I'm sure his current tunes sound fun in a club and slightly silly just sitting around.

Lot's of VIP mixes don't get "released". Most of the time it's just to have something different in your arsenal rather than having the same version everybody else is dropping. People do eventually get a hold of them though, it trickles down from friends of big names that get the promo, then their friends bug them enough and get it, etc. etc. Ewun's Screw Up VIP was never "released" but I heard a few ATL DJ's playing it out. In contrast, Spor's - Knock You Down VIP was never released and I don't think I've ever heard it outside of a Spor mix.

The pro's know the right time to get everybody hyped up and when to shut up. Also your example is kinda strange, do you just mean vocals in dnb period? or vocals by MC's? 5000 words and not a mention of clownstep?! I'm joking, Agro isn't technically a genre title and I guess the term it is more commonly referred to as is (Chris don't hate me) Darkstep (I guess anyway could be called Hardstep too but, DOA calls it Skullstep sometimes). Man, this is really relaxing. Does anyone know of any other kind of chill Drum N Bass?

There's tons by lots of different producers, so there's not necessarily a "chill-n-bass" style. Here's a few examples...

The Upbeats feat. Jess Chambers - Through the Night
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhphZTi1Qvk

Normally you think of fast paced, aggressive, darkish dnb when you see The Upbeats associated with something. The whole Big Skeleton album is a nice mix of dancefloor tunes and unexpected bits.

London Elektricity - Just One Second (Apex Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGNDlLiVBK0&feature=related

We don't even need to discuss how great LE or Apex are, so you know the remix is great.

Alix Perez & Sabre - Solitary Native
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfFsQFuTbxU&feature=related

This song. I love this loving tune. The flipside "Old Flame" is good poo poo too.

EDIT: I came to add Bop to that list, but I feel like enough people would argue me down that Bop isn't even drum and bass. To that, I say I don't really care, I feel like Bop has and is having an interesting influence on dnb that it hasn't really had before. So here you go...

Bop - Tears Of A Lonely Metaphysician
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6IRqCA1nfM&feature=related

There was a Bop remix EP recently released on Med School. http://www.iambop.com/releases/medic19/

I could post a bunch of other stuff but I'm not sure if it fits in what you consider "chill drum and bass", I assume that's different for everyone. Also is it safe to assume not a lot of people are into drumfunk?

As for what I'm into, kinda like Manoli but I fluctuate a lot. I used to be really into breakcore and darkstep while bordering on liquid. Now I'm more about liquid and whatever else I think sounds good or fun, nothing cheezy though. I love me a good ragga tune every now and then, even the ones that turn into crazy drill poo poo. I haven't been out to a dnb event in over a year now and I hate it. Everything is focused on dubstep down here, even the ATL cats that were nothing but dnb and jungle rarely have a dnb guy down. Nashville never really had a cohesive enough scene to keep events going for more than a short while so everything there is random as hell. If I sound a bit bitter I'm not, okay well maybe I am, but I do like UK Funky stuff and a bit of Wonky dubsteps as well as a host of other types of music both clubbish and not.

Just got back from AK1200 (he replaced Sigma at the last minute due to work visa complications). I haven't been to a dnb event in a while, and well...I don't think I can again for a good while. Not until all this overly heavy dubstep goes away. The other room was annoying grinding and silly laser bass the entire night. The dnb room was...strange and disconnected. Even during AK1200's set it didn't seem like a dnb scene, but more of a bunch of random people in a room while music was playing. The crowd was bad, and AK1200 was noticeably confused as to what direction to go in. I think he lost a lot of momentum really quick when the monitors stopped working in the middle of his first song. From there he had to long mix jump up to try to keep the crowd going, but after the 3rd song people spread out and left. By the end of the night I think about 8 people were left in the crowd. Overall his set was alright, too much jump up for my tastes, but I think I would have had a nervous breakdown dealing with a crowd like that. Anyway, if some of this doesn't make sense blame it on the fact that it's 4:26am.

Edits: Thanks for the mix Chris, I'll listen as soon as the ringing in my ears stops. Hopefully by morn.

Indeed, it was very painful to watch. I've have seen him throw down at the POTD's before, but last night was just weird. I will say though, Nashville has a habit of liking ridiculous jump-up on the borderline of clowny in respect to dnb. The crowd was crazy weird though, I don't blame AK one bit for that set.

I got confused trying to watch his actual physical mixing, but then I realised you meant look at the Serato screen, and yeah, it makes no sense. For example his transition from System to Ill Behaviour - the transition happens with only one Serato track playing. So both System and Ill Behaviour were on that one MP3, evidently. This would be excusable if it was a mash-up, but it's not, it's a (fairly rubbish) mix. He then mixes into another Serato track at 6:24 (notice the top one stop moving) but it continues to be Ill Behaviour, with his next tune pre-mixed in (listen to the drums).

Secondly, watch the bit from 2:14 to 3:00. The track he mixes out of the Let You Go remix (I don't recognise it) drops when it's clearly on the same Serato deck as Let You Go (the top one) - if you watch the waveforms, the waveform on the deck it 'should' be on goes into near-silence at about 2:44 for quite a while. The camera looks away for a while, and when it looks back at 3:36, the track I don't know is now on the bottom Serato deck and the Vocals from System are being mixed in - apparently on the top deck - and it's all well and dandy until at 3:50 he takes the tune out of the top deck...and both tunes remain playing.

I'm pretty sure he has his transitions pre-recorded, and then he matches up the tracks that are the same - i.e., he has 2 MP3s with Ill Behaviour on it: one is an MP3 going from System into Ill Behaviour, and another is an MP3 with Ill Behaviour going into whatever the next tune is.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

Yeah, hopefully that video is just horribly out of sync. I didn't look at the waveforms, however picking up the needle on a deck means at least one song should stop playing. That clearly didn't happen. DJ edits are alright, but if he's pre-mixing transitions that's just ridiculous. It seems like you'd have to go out of your way to do cheaty mixing like that, but I guess some guys are obsessed with sounding like a mix cd.
