Used the old thread OP to reinstall Oblivion last week, ran into a few troubles but it seems to crash after playing for about 15 mins and then crashes regularly till I restart. The 4GB patch sounds like it might help though, thanks a bunch. I noticed you don't have Unnecessary Violence in the OP anymore. I have a feeling it's been causing the odd problem (like a crash or two and sometimes not being able to attack randomly) but I wasn't sure if it was it or Deadly Reflexes. Is it no longer desirable?

KakerMix posted:Deadly Reflexes works perfectly and shouldn't cause issues. Unnecessary Violence, however, can cause quite a few. I know Tr0ll said he uses it as do I, but it does cause a lot of instability. I find it worth it but some people might not. You can still safely use it though, even though it is pretty busted at least it's very compatible. Whenever the fabled version II of UV is supposed to come out apparently fixes all the issues as it has been built from the ground up. I can't wait. Okay, I think I'll disable it. A bunch of the mods you've mentioned should really be in the OP. The crafting ones sound fantastic.

Okay, I haven't finished the main campaign either but this-Gyshall posted:Hey, you and I both, bro. Have you ever gone to Shivering Isles? I haven't. Is a mistake. Shivering Isles owns. Anyway, I installed Craftybits and I really like it, but a weird thing is happening, basically almost everytime I use the CB key on a cutting board to turn it into another board Oblivion crashes. It works maybe one in three times, every other time the game hangs. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Here's my load order, it's been BOSSified - code:
I'm using OBSE 0018, is that right? It seems to be the latest one on the website. [edit] I think it's DeadlyReflex. If I disable DeadlyReflex then CraftyBits doesn't crash at all. That's terrible, I like both these mods a lot. KakerMix what version of Craftybits and DeadlyReflex are you using to have them coexisting properly? Removed the skills mod, built a Wyre Bash patch and Craftybits isn't crashing anymore at least. Thanks a bunch guys. [edit] Scratch that, hey guys it's me again. Craftybits is working now, but even worse than CB dying is that the game is now crashing about every five miutes without fail. It wasn't doing this before I made a Bashed Patch. I've tried disabling the Bashed Patch but it's still happening. (Does Wyre Bash do any other crazy things?) Not sure what to do here. It's completely unplayable now. All I'm doing is wandering around cities, the exterior, anything and Oblivion just dies after five minutes. code:
I know this isn't much to go on, but I don't really have anything to go on either. Babby Sathanas fucked around with this message at 18:19 on May 31, 2010 |

KakerMix posted:When you build the based patch, are you going through and making sure that the relevant options that are checked ALSO have their sub-options checked? This needs to be. Yeah I did. I'll try turning off Salmo. I've disabled Cobl and Crafty completely and the crashes have stopped. I'm really confused though because the crashes weren't there before I did a Bashed Patch, and as soon as I did it then it's crashing constantly. The only way I've managed to fix them sofar is by killing Cobl and Crafty. How does this make any sense? [edit] Disabled Salmo and I think the crashes may have subsided, Deadly Reflex works, Craftybits key works. Uh that's weird. What does Salmo the Baker even do? I thought it just added an NPC. Thanks for all the help, sorry for spamming the thread with my woes. I'm sure I'll be back. Hell yeah, Oblivion. Babby Sathanas fucked around with this message at 19:06 on May 31, 2010 |

OK Oblivion now crashes for me about every 1-2 hours. I can live with that. Is that normal for this level of modding? Also is it normal for everytime Oblivion closes to come up with the "Oblivion has encountered a problem" thing? Even when I close it from the main menu.

Oh, Python probably doesn't get added to the Windows path by default. Sigh. I'm pretty sure that if you run bash.py from Exploper (right-click, open with, Python) the stdout window will close as soon as it crashes out. If you want to add Python to your system path. 1) Control Panel 2) System 3) Advanced 4) Environment Variables 5) In the system variables table find PATH, edit the value and put ;C:\Python26;C:\Python26\Lib;C:\Python26\Lib\site-packages on to the end of the value. (Path values are separated by ; Don't under any circumstances remove the contents of this variable, just append to it.) 6) OK, OK, OK You'll have to restart the command line for Windows to pick up on path changes. If you can be bothered to do this then try running Wyre Bash again as before, from the Mopy directory, "python bash.py". [edit] I'm assuming you've installed Python to C:\Python26 - if this isn't the case alter the paths above as necessary. Babby Sathanas fucked around with this message at 00:11 on Jun 1, 2010 |

... Not really possible. If you add a directory to your path properly then you'll be able to run any executable in there from any other location. If you've installed Python properly then you should have a C:\Python26\python.exe Which will run if you do "python" from anywhere once C:\Python26 is in your path. I really don't know what else to say. =/ What exactly have you got in your path environment variable now?

Ooooo kay so the problem is with wxPython. It's installed properly but something is wrong. It's pretty odd, I'm using the same version of Python + wx but I'm on Windows 7. I'm not sure if that would make too much of a different. The Wyre Bash readme says to use Python 2.5 and wxPython 2.8.7.1, but there are no binary installers of 2.8.7.1 for Python 2.6. ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/wxpython/files/wxPython/2.8.7.1/ ) I dunno if you wanted to try again but with Py 2.5, it might not make a difference. Have you done something weird like install a 64bit version of Python and a 32bit version of wxPython? It's best to stick to 32bit versions of Python really even on a 64bit machine.
|
# ¿ Jun 1, 2010 00:21 |

FYI Python 2.5 will install separately to C:\Python25 and so if you run from the command line as your path stands you'll be running Python 2.6. Change your path if you want to make sure you run 2.5. You'll also have to make sure you get the wxPython installer for Python 2.5 if you do. [edit] Wait, wait, wait where do you have Oblivion installed? It might be a UAC issue. Have you tried running Wyre Bash as an administrator?

OpusD posted:I have UAC disabled entirely because it is an annoying piece of poo poo. Oblivion is installed to the default directory. I haven't tried running Wyre Bash as administrator. Okay. Also try redownloading and reinstalling Wyre Bash, apparently that error code is thrown up when wx has a problem loading images. (particularly icons) Maybe one of the images is corrupted somehow. Typical for it not to be an error that directly means anything, eh? Totally no excuse for that...

I use the Redimized version of QTP3 and Better Cities, my framerate is absolutely fine apart from in the Imperial City and Bravil where it starts to poo poo itself a little. It's totally playable since they're not combat areas. I've got a core i7 and a GTX 260. It's not a modest machine but goes to show how much Better Cities really needs. I don't think QTP3 slowed anything down that much at all. Open Better Cities made it nearly unplayable.
