Edit. Wait you probably mean the forward assist. It's to mash your bolt into battery if necessary during malfunction.

I know the tlr-1 is the tfr approved light, but what about the tlr-3? Isn't it smaller/cheaper? Are these decent? Other than running on a moon battery, is there something else that prevents widespread acceptance?
