2013's are coming out in Spring, and yeah they are gonna be better than the 2012, for short.

I saw the 2013 5.0 in person and the tail lights are.. pretty nice. What they are is one big piece of smoked bubble plastic over intricate LEDs. When the brake lights are off it looks cheaper than i expected though. This was an all black 5.0 and the rest of it looks loving sweet though. I like the little slats in the hood, and the hood seems to sweep down a lot more and make the front of the car look a bit more sleek. The headlights look a lot better in person than i expected. I sort of miss the front fascia of the california special/laguna seca, but the front bumper is much better than the stock one on 5.0s of 2012. The side trim pieces being painted glossy black didnt look too bad and the car didnt look that bloated.

Im trying to get a picture of the taillights from my friend... will post that when available

Yes but when can I buy it? When can I give them all of my dollars?

Dec 29, 2004

I've settled on a 2013 grabber blue GT. They announced the new Boss 302 is gonna be another $2000 more than the 2012, plus it will be marked up, plus California taxes mean I'll be priced outta that. The money I save will probably go towards track tires and shiny things that make the car create really loud fart noises and such.

I guess putting something with a decent screen and interface means that ford doesnt get to charge $1000 or whatever for a $100 screen.

There's vehicle code issues as well. In California you can't have a monitor unless its just navigation/vehicle info/external camera view. No point putting an amazing screen in since you're not going to use it for anything but that.

Seeing the track apps in this video... mehhh. I'll get the standard GT and spend the saved $5000 on Brembos, shaker 500 and maybe Recaros.

Longpig Bard

Looking at the options on the configurator, I think that's a fully loaded premium GT. The standard GT doesn't get leather or a racing stripe.

Got quoted $34,994 on a premium GT with track pack. Is there something scummy to look out for? Because another dealer had a base GT with brembo and recaro for 35,580. Do I go in and drop off a $500 deposit and come out with a guarantee at that price? They have to order it, I think a Grabber blue with track pack and nothing else would sit on a lot for a while.

Well I've been doing a bit of searching for new (and used) 2011-13 Mustang GT w/manual and I'm just not seeing many available. Are they hard to keep on the lot or just not very common? Or do Ford dealerships have lovely online inventory listings?

You shouldn't have a problem finding 2012's. Every dealer around me only had a handful of 2013's so I had to get mine custom ordered and wait 8 weeks for it to arrive.

On another note... anyone have a Hurst shifter or similar?

Says it gets rid of the stock reverse lockout, so what is shifting into first like? You just don't lean the stick all the way to the left and find the gate?

Those Mustang numbers seem legit. My GT gets around 14 MPG, but gently caress Honda's bloated numbers. My 08 Accord was definitely a good few MPG below the advertised 21. I mostly do city driving. I've estimated I will only pay a couple hundred dollars more in gas per year, not including track days and "stuff".

Oh yeah, the cupholders are definitely made for the slush box drivers but that's going to be a V8 problem too. Gotta agree with the interior quality on the premium package though, everything is well thought out and feel great in the hand. My favorite feature of the car has to be the built in wide angle mirrors in the side view assembly, that should be standard safety equipment on all cars IMO.

One other thing to note about the V6 vs V8, the transmissions are different. I believe the V8 utilizes a skip shift program that gates off a gear if the car thinks you should skip it for better fuel economy, the V6 is a basic box made in china.

They got rid of the skip shift

Have a '13 GT with manual, and getting a pretty loud clunk and resistance in the shifter when going from first to second and second to third. Was going to get an 11 or 12 model but I heard there were problems with the trans that should've been addressed in the newer models. Should I wait until my first oil change to bitch at the dealer or what? I don't want to have to leave my brand new car with them for a week.

:negative:

I think that's normal, depending on what you call "pretty loud". Also, shifting technique plays a part. I noticed if I hold the stick with a pistol grip going from 2nd to 3rd, I'll get some chatter in the linkage... but if I just push it with the pads of my palms, it pops right into third.
