It just looks like they flattened the last ISD. I wonder if the gun turrets work the same. I do like the idea of stud shooters on the emplacements.

Each factions' troop transporter was cool, the B-wing/??? kludge of the Resistance one, or the amphibious lander in space of the New Order.

But yeah the TIE and X-Wing were disappointing. There was more evolution in ships and vehicles from Rogue One to RotJ than there was in the following 30 years.

In the now non canon book future they stick with the same basic shape and design for like 20-30 years then the like far future stealth-x are still basically x wing shaped. Also military development is usually rapid during conflict so it makes sense that after the empire fell there was basically just minor updates, and also they're a renegade faction fighting the first order so they probably don't have cutting edge technology.

Yeah it's just the same thing minus the nostalgia, which is why I usually only buy OT stuff. I'd rather they just change nothing at all so I can functionally have it as an OT set (like the AT-ST from R1)

I bought the resistance X wing since I have a thing for X-wings (I don't like the color scheme on Poe's) and I'll probably get Rey's speeder before it's gone and maybe that Quadjumper cause it's neat. Otherwise I've never really bought a single non-ot set except a few on deep discount for parts.

Edit: oh wait I bought the AT-DP just because it looks fuckin awesome.

I started digging through that big bin of legos I got at that yard sale. Among a fair amount of non-lego bits and lots of legos clearly chewed by a dog, at the bottom of the bin was a lime green manila folder full of box fronts/backs and instructions for sets from the late 70s and early 80s, as well as fabuland stuff and those small in-box catalogs. Really neat to look at!

Although I guess Lego being what it is, it wouldn't be too tough to MOC some up. The X-TIE Fighter is neat.

Any aussies in here buying the Saturn V when it shows up in Aus? A few places in the UK and USA have got it already.

The lego site have it for 169AUD + 35 shipping but I'm wondering if anybody knows if it'll show up in local shops and what do you reckon the price would be? Will the Chadstone legoland discovery centre stock it? I know that isn't an official lego store so they'll probably sell it for more I'm guessing but I do live 10min away so it would be really handy. What about toys r us or target?

Anyway, I'm not huge into lego these days but I want that, preferably for under $200AUD but I guess I'll eat that shipping cost if I can't pick it up instore somewhere. I just haven't bought a set worth more than $40 in a long time so I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get any deals for big sets like this in Aus.

Well, of course I know him.
He's me.
Star Wars had a black and orange space ship prominently featured in every ad two years ago and last year the U-Wing had blue and yellow accents. SW hasn't lost any color, if it seems that way it's only because of the utilitarian design language used for all the vehicles. It's nowhere near as desaturated as the DCEU or Bayformers.

Cheers guys. I just rang up toybricks, they said it won't be in retail in Aus until August as the shipment was delayed. It'll be $170 though, which I guess is good if you don't want to pay for shipping. Not sure if that is true for all other stores. He said the only place it'll be on sale 'soon' is the lego discovery centre in Chadstone and possibly then the first wave only to members. I tried to give them a call but they close at 4pm.

Edit: Rang a BigW store, guy there said they'll have it by Wednesday (31st) and have ordered 28 units of it for that one store. He couldn't tell me a price though and won't hold any until they actually have them in stock on the day. So I guess the best bet (if you want it now) would be the large chains who have buying power and would have gotten their shipments nationwide on time vs the small shops who have to wait around for stock to come in.

So unless there is a huge markup at BigW I'll buy it there mid week. :toot:
