People really need to stop worrying about what others will think of your book covers. gently caress what people think about your reading habits. Most people don't read regularly anyway.

awkward and unwieldy

You can't call it awkward and bad because you either had a hard time keeping up or it wasn't a style you enjoy. Everything you mentioned I enjoyed about it and I didn't have a hard time tracking where and when and who the subject was.

I didn't say it was good. I said I enjoyed it. Subjective vs objective look it up. Also comments about your reading comprehension of my post and a fantasy book.

What's more annoying than nothing happening in book 10 is this same exact conversation coming up every single time it's mentioned.

One time I drank a bottle of Robitussin, vomited red fire, saw the universe, and realized that everything that could possibly ever be said had already been said and it was all empty ritual by this point so there was no longer any point in talking to anyone ever again.

It made me sad because I would have to fake it with my family since I loved them.

Why are we spoilering this? He means someone makes themselves extremely heavy so they don't need to push against other metal and get smooshed. They just push one way and they're so heavy they don't move/smoosh.

From the Mistborn wiki for what that's worth:

quote:

If a Feruchemist taps an ironmind and steelpulls or ironpushes, then they can increase their weight to become the anchor for the pull, even if an enemy also manipulating the piece of metal weighs more, or the metal weighs more than the user. One could also decrease their weight to gain more movement of your body from each push or pull.

Yeah book goons will read it and endlessly talk about it but it's not literature you see because they all got made fun of as kids for reading it and now they're so uptight they honestly care if complete strangers see them reading it in public.

I snagged Ruim.

Just kidding I managed to get Maytag.

Ruin is still available as is Ruim. Although I think going with a name from one of his series is pretty dumb. Also the admin for the forums seems like a huge spazz.

Ahaha people wearing loving mistcloaks.

I hope Brandon was able to write 10k words in a day because of extensive notes/outlines and not because he's sacrificing quality for speed.

I just want the book to be awesome, I don't mind waiting longer for it. Also I really like Brandon and don't want him saying a few years down the road "Gee I really wish I had put more time into it."

Seriously how many people read the last book before it was printed and didn't notice all those errors? Unless she's making nuanced tweaks to the story's flow all the time that we're not even aware of, she has no business being an editor.

And considering RJ's seeming opinion of women, he was probably all, "Sure, wife, you can proofread my book. Aw that's cute."

I found the Shallan chapters pretty boring and her word play was annoying as hell. A whole book where she's the focus is going to be a drag.

Don't listen to that guy.

If book two didn't grab you, that's because it was the weakest book. Read book three.

It's not like you're gonna read one more book and die (probably). Read Way of Kings after.

I just read your posts in this thread BananaNutkins, your favorite DT book is Wizard and Glass. The correct order is 1 2 3 4 7 6 5

Alloy of Law was kinda mediocre.

I thought Alloy of Law was pretty bland and even more bordering on YA than Mistborn was. The characters were all obnoxious and I agree with what was said earlier about what an action movie it was- mass killing of faceless henchmen and big explosions.

Sanderson is still writing like a fresh-faced young author- big ideas, lots of enthusiasm, not much depth of character.

That said I really respect what he's doing and his dedication and I think he deserves our support and our money. Just lose the hard on guys, he has a long way to come as an author.

We can never openly discuss these books because new people are born all the time.

I think only using spoilers for the first month or two after a book is released is pretty reasonable.

Sanderson has a long way to go to write complex subtle individual characters. Mistborn Trilogy bordered on Young Adult because of this. He's getting better but his strength is world building.
