A pretty solid encapsulation of UYD, from someone on their forums; Jonathan and Seth, two inhabitants of Hollyweird with vastly divergent backgrounds, have turned an unusually solid rapport into a vivid and agile team assault on lunacies both of the garden variety and of the rarified. The format is fairly basic: intro and outro songs bookend discussions of a dozen-ish news items or internet discoveries that the hosts haven’t yet discussed. The secret sauce is the freeform development of their perspectives as they crawl into the heads of the stories’ participants and laughingly freak out the whole way there. When the stories veer, and they often do, into personal anecdotes, you learn that their own histories have equipped them with insights into absurdity most other podcast hosts can’t match. This show, while consistently funny and insanely quotable, is really about experiencing the personalities of two dudes who somehow manage to maintain a deeply grounded and never-unkind sensibility while navigating through the insanities both of their flighty surroundings and of their hyperawareness of a world frantically careening towards a brainsick end.

I'm a new-er listener, started somewhere in the early 200's and I've been listening from the beginning while staying caught up on the new ones, and there's no discernible difference to me. Meaning I find them all hilarious. When the show relies on the chemistry and rapport between two guys (which is quite good) great segments or subjects really elevate their game. To me, there's a level of craziness that came with their "To Catch A Predator" recaps that they never really recaptured once the show went off the air. Along with Craig's House, its the Signature UYD bit.

I think it's been mentioned here but as I recall it's in the 90-130 area. Craig's House, This Week in Florida, Jah's Poetry, etc. I think there's another "golden age" within UYD, namely: To Catch a Predator recaps. Seth and Jah losing their poo poo at the different things the guys on TCaP used to do is some of the show's finest moments.
