It was no big deal when they would show the final game but now even the qualifying games just to get to Williamsport are on TV and on the score ticker and ugh.

Fun fact: Jurickson Profar played in two Little League World Series for Curaçao, and even at age 12 kid could rake.

While I am of a similar political persuasion to Zirin and enjoy his writing in small doses (mostly because I prefer hockey, and he essentially ignored the NHL lockout--which would have been pretty interesting to see his coverage of it--because "no one cares about hockey, while people care about the NBA"), he makes it hard to like him when he follows up that defense of Bill Simmons by calling for Roy Hibbert to be suspended for Game 7 for making a "pause/no homo" joke in an interview: http://www.thenation.com/blog/174612/no-homo-no-way-suspend-roy-hibbert-game-7

(He's backtracked a bit from it, but still.)

There needs to be a network called the Island of Misfit Sporting Events where we can have all of the stuff that's incredibly awesome but normal people don't watch: Auto Racing, Aussie Rules Football, International Rugby, Bushkazi, and so on.

This actually exists, it's called Fox Soccer Plus, and I'm actually curious if the crazy sports it shows will be shifted over to Fox Sports 2 to fill airtime or it'll just disappear.

That Daulerio interview just confirms my belief that Deadspin and Barstool Sports (especially in the Daulerio/pre-Chernin era, respectively) are pretty much exact mirror images of one another. DS obsesses over dicks while La Stool is obsessed with tits, one revels in its wokeness while Pres has openly expressed his desire to run over any Black Lives Matter protestor if they blocked a highway he was on, one employs an unironically terrible writer (Billy Haisley) while the other employs an ironically terrible writer, you can pretty much go right down the card. Only big difference is that Barstool's monetized itself a lot better, if the national obsessions with first Harambe and now "SATURDAYS ARE FOR THE BOYS" are any indication.

even though I posted the original article, personally I think both sites are high on their own self-importance and mirror images of each other: they both employ failed NFL punters (Kluwe on DS, Pat McAfee on BS), they both have one or two things that are legit good/funny (Moskowitz on DS, Jordie and PFTC/Pardon My Take on BS), once-interesting and funny writers who are now just hacks (Drew Magary vs El Pres), third-rail subjects that everyone is expected to agree on (gently caress The Cards vs The Patriots Are Living Gods), they've both taken massive personal/financial hits (the Hogan lawsuit vs. Dave Portnoy's upcoming divorce), etc.
