Bieber sounds really out of place on that track. If they'd done something to his vocals maybe it would blend in better but as it stands i'm not really digging that.

Do we know if Jon Brion is involved in this album or not?The Rabite posted:Swizzy almost ruined the entire track. Yes, in much the same way that he almost ruined Lord, Lord, Lord. His production can be great but he is an abysmal MC.

The funny thing is, if he had kept his mouth shut about it nowhere near as many people would know anything leaked at all. Now all of his followers are going to be googling 'kanye west leak'

You ever wanted to hear Fergie, Elton John, and The-Dream on the same track? Who doesn't? Well, the good news is your wait will soon be over. http://www.rap-up.com/2010/10/18/kanye-wests-biggest-collaboration-yet/ quote:Rap-Up.com was in the house at Monday night’s screening of his short film Runaway in Los Angeles where he revealed the eleven names that contributed to the super-sized track. They are Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Fergie, John Legend, The-Dream, Tony Williams, Kid Cudi, Charlie Wilson, Ryan Leslie, and La Roux’s Elly Jackson.

DarkCompanion posted:The whole project is interesting, but appears to me as something of a failure. The phoenix idea is pretty contrived and Kanye's own conception of his career seems to be really hyperbolic and almost manufactured at times. I think it's admirable that he's experimenting with alloying hip hop and the manners of high culture, but in the end I don't think Kanye, despite having generally well developed artistic instincts, really succeeds. There are some nicely done segments and some artfully arranged images, but Kanye lacks the conceptual vocabulary to make this "film" come together cleanly and when all is said and done it's rather self indulgent and juvenile. I'd have to agree with this, but I hope he continues trying to raising the bar for the rest of the pop culture. You've gotta admire the effort at least.

Brett824 posted:Runaway and Monster were both ~10 on the Hot 100 and the album's gonna do 500k-600k first week (more than Drake at least). I'd say he's doing something right to stay relevant. I would be extremely surprised if this outsold 808s. Heartless and Love Lockdown were both huge hits, while Monster barely scratched the top 20 and Runaway peaked at 12. Yeah the album is incredible and the critical accalaim is unanimous, but you don't see Sufjan Stevens going gold in the first week. I'm thinking 400k at best.

Apparently it sold around 518k in the first week. Which pretty impressive, considering the lack of both promotion and a strong radio single. edit: 495,800 TITY BOI fucked around with this message at 15:42 on Dec 1, 2010 |
