Do restaurant chains like Chili's, Applebee's, TGI Friday's, etc, actually employ cooks/chefs in their kitchens who legitimately prepare the food? Or do they serve you what amounts to basically glorified TV dinners?

Some dishes are prepped offsite, like the hamburgers are sent pre-formed, and then cooked onsite. Some are prepared entirely in the restaurant, it just depends.

It's pretty much what you would expect, homogenized food across their chain is important so a lot of things are packaged and stuff but the stuff that needs to be fresh is cooked by cooks to order. Mcdonalds has assembly workers, Fridays has cooks (line cooks), and other restaurants have chefs.

I might have this all wrong but I think there some rule to the effect of... don't use a comma on a clause introduced by "that." "That" signifies a... I forget the term but as I remember the idea is that the clause that follows is necessary to identifying the thing signified by the noun it modifies and should not be separated by a comma. "Who" or "which" introduce clauses that describe the noun further but are not necessary in that way and can be preceded by a comma. But yeah, the sense you're expressing that the first sentence is unwieldy and in need of punctuation is a good reason to prefer the second.

As Violence Gang points out, the sentences mean different things. 1) The task force currently has an unknown number of parolees. 25 of the parolees which are currently part of the task force have been with the task force since March. 2) The task force currently has an unknown number of parolees. Since March, 25 parolees have, at some point, been part of the task force.

So my fiance and I came home after work to find our house smelling, well... fruity, for lack of a better word. It smells like fruity candy or something, but we can't figure out why. It didn't smell like that when we left for work earlier in the day.. Its going to sound weird, but is there anything "bad" that could cause a fruity/sweet smell, like some sort of mold or something? Its kinda getting to me, and the rooms its affecting still have the scent of whatever it is when we walk into them hours after first noticing it.

Strangely, I know exactly what you mean, but no, it can't be- garbage went out today, can is empty except for junk mail at the moment. Unless something fell on the floor that we don't know about... but its just a hint of a smell, almost like someone sprayed too much perfume in the room a couple hours ago and it still hasn't aired out. Edit: Okay, I let my nose reset and walked back through the scented rooms, and it kinda smells like fruit punch, or some fruity girlie alcoholic drink. I had the same thing happen to me, and it turned out I accidentally bought scented trash bags and didn't realise it. You're probably not that dumb, but maybe that's what happened?

Wow, can't believe I'm even doing this... but this is a really rough sketch of the house, with the smell sites highlighted in pink.  The only other thing I can figure is that we just bought some Bounty pet hair rollers that have a Febreeze scent to them, and theres one stationed in the living room, but if you sniff those they smell like dryer sheets, not fruit. Edit: Wow, that came out tiny. Waffleimages is down, never used Tinypic before. Oh well, working left to right- Kitchen, Living Room Dining Room, Bathroom Bedroom, another Bathroom Computer Room (where I am now) Alright, its bed time. If its still there in the morning, I'll make sure to update! Edit again: Oh, and theres no fruit in the house.. We got home yesterday from a 4 day vacation, so we haven't restocked very well. I ordered a book from a seller on Amazon Marketplace, and when the package came, it appeared to have been torn in shipping, exposing the book (particularly the jacket) to quite a bit of wear and tear. It was ordered from an individual THROUGH Amazon, not from Amazon directly, and the package was not insured (to my knowledge). Is there anything I can do about this?

Amazon sellers have generally been pretty understanding when I've had issues. I can think of an instance where something was shipped as far as their end was concerned but never made it to me, regardless of what tracking said. One e-mail and they refunded every penny. Sucks that I didn't get the product I ordered, but they didn't hassle me or anything. It doesn't hurt to try!

You can email the seller and say you wish to return the book since it was damaged in shipping, and you'd like a refund. It's easy to do on their end, and all you have to do is ship it back.

I dunno though, the only things I have seen "cooked" with my own eyes were the potato soup and the fajitas. Potato soup was reconstituted powder and the fajitas came in a single-portion plastic bag.

He also did Grand Rounds once or twice a year which meant seeing inpatients. Other hospitals will vary depending on the Dean's administrative workload and his or her interest in seeing patients vs conducting research.

I was going to start a thread about this, but (luckily) I re-read the rules and as far as I can tell I would be the only person to benefit from the answer, and it probably wouldn't make much of a thread, so here goes! I had to find an archived page of the site, as it is no more. I started out by writing to the old owner's (TSBolton) friend, Jon Hunt, at his Redneck Rampage site (Redneck Rampage home-made levels, etc.); http://www.jonhunt.com/redneck/ Apparently, Mr. Bolton has dropped out of contact and his email account died with the site. Mr. Hunt was nice enough to write me back after I asked him if he could ask T.S.. He also told me about the wayback machine for searching, which is how I found the link up there. So, at least I can listen to the loop again. Searching youtube, I found around eight tracks of music that must have come from a CD about the game, but again, not the music that's playing on the site. I'm at a loss as to how to find out what it is, and by whom.

Why is Greece (the country) called "Greece" in English? Looking at Google Maps, it looks like the local name for it is "Eλλάς", which (I think) would be pronounced "ellas" or "hellas", which isn't even close to "Greece." Where'd out name for it come from?

Strangely enough, Wikipedia has a page specifically on this topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_of_Greece Short version, we got it from the Romans and haven't figured out how they came up with it themselves.

It could be rotten fruit somewhere. I was at work and one of my customers gave me some peaches in a paper bag. I tucked them away in the work truck and forgot about them for a week. One morning I opened up the truck and it smelled like booze. After searching I found a wet paper bag with some rotten, moldy peaches inside.
