I've been trying this out but, as well as having various eccentricities that make it neither better nor worse than Thunderbird from my perspective, it also won't add some feeds. Specifically https://reductress.com/feed/ and https://www.betootaadvocate.com/feed/. I click the button to fetch the metadata (which seems to be mandatory in order to add a feed) and it just sits there doing... something. It looks like nothing's happening, but if I click cancel and try to add a different feed it tells me I can't because it's busy. Only way to proceed was to restart the program. I tried again and left it several minutes but it doesn't seem to want to work at all with those sites.

So any other suggestions? Either to get Thunderbird to stop checking feeds after one failure, or for a better RSS client?

Anecdotal, but if you are not sick, and not up against a deadline or anything, then you have time to goof off and let your mind wander and go at a slower pace. But when you are sick, the mindset becomes more of a "The faster I can get this done, the faster I can get back to bed" or "I'd better get this done while I have the energy, because if I don't I'm going to be in a real bad way"

What the other poster said about lack of desire for external stimuli, which I think has to do with the fact that you're slowed down enough that the hyperactive novelty seeking is diminished.

Hi, I need to make a quick website that's just a looping mp3 sound and a looping mp4 video, with a link to an RSVP page for an invite.

Wix sort of seems to be roughly the ballpark, but also, seems a bit much? Like all the templates are super busy and it doesn't seem to let me add the audio?

Is there a really dumb template web template site that would let me knock this up quick?

/edit: Oh, yeah, the whole deal is it's more for mobile than PC? It's an e-invite for an event, with like a little movie poster / audio thing, that I want to link to an RSVP page.

It looks like you just hit the "add feed with advanced details" option instead of the simpler "import checked feeds" and it's sitting on that page waiting for you to fill in those details.
It's not doing anything in the background here. The OK button is just greyed out because it's waiting for you to fill in a title and it can't add a feed without one. For whatever reason in advanced mode that box (the one with the red sign next to it in your pic) starts out blank. But if you don't hit the advanced details button it'll just use the default title.

I didn't do either of those things. I clicked "Add new feed". I don't see any other way to add a feed; that same option exists in multiple palces but always brings up the dialogue in my screenshot.

Every other feed, I clicked the "fetch it now" button (where it says "fetch metadata") and it fills in all that info and un-greys the OK box. Filling in the title seems to let me add it, but when I tell it to check for new articles it doesn't retrieve anything.

I don't know how you got to this.

In the screenshot you posted there is a red circle with a line through it indicating that you need to do something there. There is also the little yellow triangle warning you that you probably want some info in there too but can get by without it.

Yeah and, as I said, filling in the name lets me add the feed but it still doesn't work. It won't actually retrieve any articles.

We had hideous driver issues with the zBooks. That was years ago, but in a large multinational with a dozen or so sub-units with their own standards, nobody is using the zBook. I say get an EliteBook with the same specs;i7, 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD is a solid laptop that will last a while.

It has a cpu from 2015 that won't even let them upgrade to windows 11 without a manual bypass. Windows 10 will stop getting updates at the end of 2025. Don't see any mention whether refurbished means a new battery, because that would worry me.

You can probably get a second hand thinkpad T14 gen 2 made this decade for sub 500 bucks on eBay or something.

I know what you're saying about specialist threads, but the laptop thread is fairly helpful and not up its own rear end as much.

No, the worst incompatibility you might bump into is that it doesn't charge at full speed, which, long term, is actually good for the battery. It's in general the phone dictating what it wants from the charger, not the other way around.

Heat is bad for lithium ion batteries. Faster charging produces more heat.

I vaguely remember something from a story, probably a fantasy or medieval-ish one, where a messenger delivers a sealed letter to a nobleman or whatever and it says "please kill the bearer of this letter" because to the guy who wrote the message, the messenger guy has become a problem somehow.

I can't remember much else, can't even remember if I read it or watched it, and I'm sure it's happened in more than one story, but is there a big obvious one?

This seems like it would be a common trope in a lot of stories. Have someone deliver a confidential message, then have the messenger killed because no one should know about the message. I'm sure I've seen and read it a dozen times but I can't think of any examples.

Crucially I'm not talking about "[secret stuff] and also kill the messenger," I'm talking about a message that only says to kill the messenger (presumably the person sending it can't be seen as the one doing it or can't bear to or they know the recipient wants them dead anyway or whatever)

Anyway thanks for the tvtropes link, tvtropes though it may be. As I imagined it comes up a lot but the one I was thinking of was Hamlet. And possibly HBO Rome.

If you just want it gone, people around here at least stick it outside on the street with a sign saying "free stuff" and then post a picture of that on the local Facebook group.
Otherwise, maybe there's a good recycling place? Copenhagen has municipal places where everyone can dump and pick up stuff.
