Needing to go to the bathroom is just a feeling your body gives you like hunger or pain, I’m pretty sure when the fighting starts, your body will just stop sending those signals and focus on fighting (or fleeing). That or you poo poo your pants.

No, but it can be a poison without being a toxin. Toxins are, technically speaking, naturally occurring organic compounds that harm living cells. That said, something being toxic just means that it's poisonous. Some mushrooms contain toxins, lead is toxic. Both are poisons.

Do you have any examples of something that’s a poison but not a toxin?
Does toxic just mean “is a toxin”?

Unplug it and plug it back in so the time resets, if the descale light resets too then it’s probably based on time or cycle count.

So I've been spending some time today cleaning plastic parts that came with a horrible chemical smell. I had quite a bit of luck with a vinegar bath... but it turns out the plastic is hollow (to my surprise), and now several of the pieces have vinegar in them from screw holes or other perforations. The problem is that it won't come back out those same holes and won't drain. I can't just leave it in the parts, because they're the frame of a carrying case for miniatures that will get damaged by vinegar getting on them (setting aside any risk of damage to the actual plastic), and I don't want to smell like vinegar forever every time I go to the shop, just like I'd rather not smell like a chemical refinery. I'm also a bit concerned the vinegar could cause problems with the screw threading, and hoping I don't catastrophically find out one day.

What's the easiest way for me to get any liquid that's inside the hollow plastic bits, out of them? I'm pretty sure it'll crack if I drill it, and I don't want to risk the integrity of the frame, but that's about the only way I can think of to get a drain hole. Evaporating it would probably work, but leaving it out in the sun sounds bad for the plastic. What am I not thinking of?

You could try evaporating it by putting it in front of a fan.

Anyone in the US here ever tried to invoke the FMLA for mental health/burnout? I’m at the end of my rope here, took 2 weeks off work and came back feeling worse than before. Curious about what experiences people have had, if any.

Wii Spawn Camper

:powercatte:

Thank you so much for the reply and sharing your experience. I did find out that I’m in a state that provides paid leave, so that’s extremely fortunate. Still, I’m at the point where taking an unpaid leave is very much on the table.

How long did it take? I’m kind of in a weird situation because I moved to a new state a couple years back and I’ve been doing a telehealth type deal with an office that pretty much only prescribes meds, I’ve long had a diagnosis and i was pretty stable on my meds so it was easier than seeing a different doctor. But the lady i was seeing just left the practice, and I’ve only seen the new lady once and she’s only a nurse practitioner, so I’m not sure if she can approve it. I’ve messaged them to find out more info, but I am also going to make an appointment with my normal doctor since I’m due for one anyway. I just haven’t really been working with my PCP on my mental health stuff, so i’m worried that all this is going to take a long time, and I’m desperate to move this along.

Did you get it all worked out with your doctor first and then tell your work?

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to write this up. I’m going to save it and definitely will refer to it as I go through the process. Especially this bit:

quote:

Don't think your condition is "too small" for FMLA, talk to your doctor about it before giving up. Mental health is extremely important and is one of the listed dropdown reasons when I submit FMLA, so it absolutely qualifies.

This is just what i needed to hear and it helped galvanize my feelings towards pursuing this. Mental health still has such a stigma attached to it, even though things have been improving the past few years, that it still feels like I’m ‘playing hookie’ aka calling out sick when I’m not really sick. But you’re absolutely right, it’s a valid reason and is in fact extremely important, equally as important as if i was seriously ill or injured. Because, in fact, i am seriously ill, I’m just not bleeding all over the place.

Anyway thank you so very much for the effort post! hope your recovery goes well! :glomp:

Thanks y’all, I’m not going to tell anyone neither jack nor poo poo, but I have a plausible reason on deck (terminally ill close relative) ready to go if pressed, and it isn’t entirely untrue because I will be using some of the time to care for them. I will feel a little guilty though, because I’m also going to be looking for a new job during this time. But not too guilty, because last night I was working late because I wasn’t able to finish my work at the normal time, due to having multiple breakdowns during the day. So gently caress ‘em, this is no way to live, and it’s their fault it has gotten to this point in the first place.

Douche4Sale, I’m glad you’re doing better. I’m getting to that point myself, so it’s good to hear a success story. Hope you continue to do well!
