https://breadnroses.net/ is the rallying point if SA really goes down and I suggest signing up now. They’re waiving the $10 fees if you wait a bit after making an account. I’m there under the same name and avatar.

I hope to see this thread continued there if the worst happens. It’s fantastic.

Can someone with time, energy and inclination grab a load of the stuff that gets put in compilation posts. If things go down and we all relocate, it would be nice to have some of that old stuff saved on BnR or whatever ends up being the new world.

Jeffrey of YOSPOS is likely getting ownership from the site from Lowtax so we’ll be fine staying here for the foreseeable future. Check out the stickied posts.

Keep those urban legend posts coming. This Mario 64 poo poo is fascinating. 5th gen video games really make for the best for this kind of content.

In the interest of not making GBS threads up my favourite thread any further, I'll just say that after recent events and the hemorrhaging of users to different off-sites, I don't believe there's a chance in hell that SA will continue in a way that I or maybe you would like, at least not in terms of the crowd of people that we'd like to see using the site. I know I'm not really a well-known poster on these forums, but I've lurked for 15 years and I can see the writing on the wall.

What's with the eh... bretonnian dance, sir?

That sounds kind of nonsensical. People shilled all their discords and stuff with the idea that lowtax would be a dumbass and burn everything down, except now Jeffrey is actually getting it from him like everyone was hoping would happen. Most off-sites still just kind of suck, 'big' sites all still pretty much suck, the mod team are staying, posting's pretty much gone back to normal in most of the threads I watch.

This is my thinking. I joined BnR and various Discords but it feels like things are coming back to normal here in a positive and constructive way.

I think, all in all, some people are reasonably wary that a message saying "no Lowtax just accepted to sell his LLC and go away, honest, although nothing's signed yet" may not be cutting it yet. Some time will be needed for confirmations and details to surface and all the while some people may have found they enjoy their new homes more.

That’s understandable. If the deal falls through or anything like that then I’ll consider moving but I’m staying hopeful.

I remember me and some friends getting all our games together, and doing this one night. And being so disappointed that nothing happened. I seriously l felt like we had to be the first people to actually work out how to make it happen. And then nothing. I didn't expect Mew. But I expected the truck to push for some reason.

Anyway, that's my story about how none of us had a Gameshark to just get Mew like everyone else. Thanks for reading.

While I signed up for B&R just in case things fall through, I also reached out to Jason Scott and the archive team and gave them the heads up on the possible imminent death of the site.

As for thread content... I miss the Hondo maps stories. I know someone was showing off the secrets in them, but I'm not sure if they ever finished. Did it ever come out if the one map that had the secret clock-style hub had anything in the... I want to say it was the 9 o'clock portal that never opened?

I did those vids! I did find the secrets for the vast majority of the maps but the rest didn't have a lot out there about them or their secrets at the time. The 5am clock was solved, at least as far as anyone can tell iirc!

If you ever get the itch to go back to these, Nemesis, I'd love to know more about Blockwar! I poked around for a bit and got as far as the underground white room with all the black squares, but for the life of me couldn't make any progress. Not sure if I recall mention of it needing more than one player?

Further on the Hondo maps front, I was PMed a few weeks ago by someone looking for the source maps, since apparently the Johnny the Midget site has died off, and sure enough the Mediafire upload I prepared back in 2015 is still available. Seems like a good enough time to offer it up, so if anyone's interested:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bsxa9bk51nxd17t/hondo_ahl_maps_with_source.zip/file

And if you'll all pardon me referencing another of my own posts, this one originally buried by a flurry of other discussion, I'll remind everyone that the iOS game Hondo worked on did eventually get ported to Windows and released for free: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?noseen=0&threadid=3343771&pagenumber=285&perpage=40#post498169972

I haven't had the chance to touch it since I last mentioned it, so I still don't know what secrets are in the map, if any. But no need to buy anything, or find an old iOS device!

Finally I'll add my voice to the chorus of those celebrating this thread. I've had it bookmarked for the past decade, I just realized as I started this sentence, and it's actually the way I get to the forums every day. I have a few favorite threads, but this one's miles in front. Some really phenomenal stuff in here, and I can't heap enough praise on all the contributors. Looks like it'll be here for awhile yet, fingers crossed, but either way, thanks for so many years of entertainment, everybody!

choose your own horror isekai sci-fi Souls-like urban fantasy gamer simulator adventure

or don't?
has anyone ever talked about Robodemons, or that it was basically real creepy pasta

blue NES cartridge, no Nintendo seal, voiced audio in an NES game ("WOBODEMON") hard as balls game featuring explicit satanic themes (including descending into actual Hell and freeing the souls of your ancestors), a second level that's supposed to be made of organs but it ends up looking like a glitchy hosed up mess and also is called THE LEVEL OF FLESH, only one song that just keeps looping but is surprisingly catchy

for a long time I couldn't remember the name of the game and nobody believed me when I tried to describe it; as far as I know it was the only non-Christian game made by Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree, and they kind of went the exact opposite way from their normal fare. Though, according to wikipedia they also had "an NES game called "Maggots", in which the player character is trapped inside a human corpse and must escape while avoiding the maggots which infest it" that never got released

poo poo's weird

edit: oh and both the main character and the final boss have voiced human screams upon death

Not sure if that level is glitched out or not (level 1 has the same space background) but there's definitely a level of flesh:
