A bit more info on the Alan Partridge movie. Nice to see the old cast and characters back, especially Dave Clifton. I hope they get to recreate the whole bouncy castle/low-speed chase from AP's autobiography. It's a "can-do-go" siduation.

I felt that episode of Black Mirror was somewhat of a letdown. The "twist" was good and pretty terrifying but I can't say the same about the buildup. About halfway through the episode I pretty much figured out the whole thing which didn't help but I can't really add that as a criticism. Every other episode has been very good though and I'm quite impressed with the overall production value. The whole thing reminds me of a less goofy and more cynical version of The Outer Limits. The E: VVV That's the one. Stare-Out fucked around with this message at 11:37 on Feb 19, 2013 |

He did a bit about CSI on You Have Been Watching where he mentions the resemblance. It was also pointed out pretty blatantly on the 2010 alternative election edition of 10 O'clock Live.

The Philomena/Barry stuff is always the low point of the show for me. Stanhope can be hit or miss but at least he's sometimes funny.

Going by the trailers he's still got it, though. I don't spew hate towards Gervais like a lot of people but I'll definitely admit that both Life's Too Short and Derek are pretty huge misses. At least with Brent he's doing what he knows. I'd say Merchant is a key element to everything good Gervais has done if it wasn't for Life's Too Short. And Cemetery Junction.

I, Partridge is fantastic also because it complements KMKYWAP, I'm Alan Partridge and Mid Morning Matters instead of just retelling the events. One of the best things was Alan's version of his fight with super fan Jed Thomas; in the show (in reality) he was completely subdued and terrified and in the book he claims he used some form of martial arts to dispatch of the guy. The movie's gonna be great.

I thought it was good. The lack of Merchant shows but it was vintage Brent. His songs were great, too. Looking forward to the rest. And it's nice to watch something Gervais has done where the "mockumentary" style makes sense (Derek/Life's Too Short).

How is Eldon's show? I've always found him hilarious; he was the best thing about Big Train (and that's saying something) and it's great to hear he has his own show now. Is it a sitcom type thing or something else?

I find Stanhope a bit hit or miss most times but man, everything apart from Brooker himself on Weekly Wipe is just really unfunny to me. I've never liked Cunk or Shitpeas, the 90 second guy does nothing for me and the Scottish dude goes on way too long. It was the same with Tim Key's poems or whatever. Each week it's the 10 minute Charlie Brooker show with a chance of Stanhope as far as I'm concerned.

Does The Fall have its own thread? Jesus christ this show rules. Re: Partridge: Yeah, get the I, Partridge audiobook, especially if you've watched everything else. It goes up to the end of Mid Morning Matters and covers everything (everything) else from Alan's perspective, so things like the meeting with Tony Hayers at the BBC restaurant and the cheese incident come off as him being some kind of hero. It's hilarious. Stare-Out fucked around with this message at 17:27 on Dec 14, 2014 |

Yeah, really. Anderson totally kills it in her role as Gibson. The whole thing is (and has been) brilliantly written, slow burn all the way and the interview scene totally shows that. I could not look away for a moment during it. The ending was somewhat obvious but led to that bit you mentioned which, considering the characters, was tremendously significant and meaningful.

It's the best thing when either Mitchell or Mack are up because it's a 99% chance they're lying and watching Mack trying to make obvious bullshit seem true is hilarious, especially since they always give him lies that involve some impossible and demonstrable skill.

There are so many clips I could post about that exact thing, like when Mack got the lie that all his ex-girlfriends' first names spelled out "BERMUDA" in that order and Mitchell jumped at it all asking for the names.

I just got through the Worricker trilogy (Page Eight, Turks & Caicos, Salting the Battlefield) and it was terrific. Very le Carré-lite. Nighy was brilliant and it's filled with a hell of a cast (Rachel Weisz, Helena Bonham-Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Christopher Walken). I highly recommend it for anyone interested in UK political thrillers/espionage. It's a slow burner but really good.

Coogan is 50, Partridge is meant to be 55 or so. Partridge's age has always been a bit off though and his look has also been pretty inconsistent. He looks pretty old in series 2 of I'm Alan Partridge and in his more recent appearances he's looked noticeably younger.
