Deer are assumed to be herbivores, but they're actually opportunistic carnivores and/or cannibals.

A friend of mine works as a wildlife manager (I think) and from what she said, apparently deer are some of the first animals to show up to their bait, even when its deer meat!

We Have Important Work To Do

You'd think the continent is designed to be as hostile as possible to humans, but it's quite the opposite. The ecosystem has had humans playing a massive part in how it works for over 40,000 years, more than any other single species, using fire to create prime hunting land, while also being the only decent-sized predator around

For a little while, at least, there were some other big predators. The indigenous dudes had the fun of sharing the place with a freaky rat lion

And the straight up biggest lizard.

Eh, looks like they got a window, don't see what the big deal is. But seriously, that being a reasonable price for a room that is maybe 4 feet high.... Welcome to Expensive Garbage Island, where the only reason to live here is to say you live here.

Confirmed to be an actual NYC apartment, not that I think it's in dispute. Also it's only a rather small sleeping area rather than representative of the whole building.

As for actual content, an album of some delightful, wonderfully eerie art. Some examples:

The prospects of a skull rain is actually sort of amusing rather than creepy.

Oh bother, it's raining skulls again.

It's a flood that didn't quite get deep enough to get to the pool, so you have a nice clean oasis in the middle of a flooded disaster.

Doesn't really hit me for creepy, but that's what you're looking at.

Naw, the giant man eating* otters lived in Africa. Meet Enhydriodon:

They weighed about 200kg and have been nicknamed the 'bear otter' because of the size and bulk of their skulls.

* Technically they were hominim eating otters. When our early Homo ancestors came into the area they turned the tables and the bear otter soon went extinct.

You know, I kinda miss this style of movie/TV monster. I think of Jim Henson (though his weren't really that creepy), Joss Whedon, 80s horror, ect. Much more interesting than the CGI variety.

I remember reading a story once about a mysterious rash of bird decapitations on some Scottish bog. Turns out deer were wandering around in the night biting the heads off of birds to get at the sweet calcium found in bird bones.
