One of my favorites is Annie's first medium job with the boy in the hospital. Her figuring out what happened and the realization of what the weird lizard thing is were well done.

Also anything with Zimmy and Gamma.

Totally agree on both counts. A Ghost Story is fantastic even as a standalone story.

Here's how I'm thinking the next few pages will go:

Friday: Something horrible happens.
Monday: Aftermath of something horrible happening.
Filler page, end of chapter, and possibly hiatus.

Perfect way to torture GC readers for a week (or possibly longer).

Great comic today without a doubt, but I wish he would have seeded the "Surma was leading Reynard on" thing a little earlier. I feel like it would have let tension about the scenario build a bit better.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this is all too much too quick. It makes it harder to be affected by a plot development when it comes out of practically nowhere.

That said, I'll still be :f5:ing like hell.

See, it's easier to take Renard's side because we don't know what kind of relationship Annie had with her father and exactly what it does to her when she hears other people badmouthing him.

We KNOW how much Annie is DESTROYING Renard because we know what he felt for Surma. But what does Annie have with her father? He abandoned her, and he's quite possibly the reason why she's so emotionally stunted. Until we know exactly why she's so quick to defend him, it's hard to take her side.

This would all be so much easier to discuss if it was a book we could read from beginning to end. loving Webcomics.

One of the things that I love so much about this comic is that there has never been a single moment that's felt mean-spirited or cruel, even on the rare occasion when characters are intentionally being unpleasant to each other. It has a really gentle outlook that puts people's personalities and intentions first, so it never feels like there are winners and losers, and nobody is ever crushed and devastated by the drama. The effects of people's actions are subtle, and the characters are (mostly) philosophic about their ups and downs, and in the end nobody is too harshly judged. It makes for such a refreshing reading experience. :shobon:

Yeah, it's how I wish more people (hell, even me) acted in real life.

But to play devil's advocate, is it realistic? I mean, we were just talking a few pages ago about how teenagers acted purely on their emotions.

Not that it's bad, there's just really not that much to it. Plus Tom used to do guest strips in between books and I'd love to see other webcomic artists like Der-Shing Helmer and John Allison and SuperHappy put their own interpretation and style on the characters.

Plus Tom needs an actual god damned break.

Just saying that the final panel would work better from a different angle or with, say, a clang sound effect to indicate the sword hitting the side of robot. We shouldn't have to guess at the artist's intention.

At the same time, the artist shouldn't have to hand-deliver every single detail. You know Parley teleported to the other side of Robot and hit him with the sword, what else do you need?
