I'm looking at Annie's blinker symbol now, and it does seem rather bird-like... Wings with an alchemical symbol in the center. The circle with a dot inside refers to the Sun and/or gold.

Pretty good shot of it here: http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=523

Not sure how relevant that is though, since Anja put up the same symbol when using Annie's stone.

I'll stick to foreshadowing since it's theather-related too.

Isn't foreshadowing more explicit? Chekov's Gun refers to specific background details or objects that don't necessarily give any hint of what is to come but end up playing an important role. Foreshadowing does give hints. They're not mutually exclusive, of course.

Chekov's own example was that if a gun is described in the story as a background detail, by the end of the novel/play the gun must be fired.

New page. I think this is the first person of East-Asian descent we've seen so far? The hairstyle is very very Chinese, too. I'm pretty sure I saw it painted on a wall in a museum in Xian.

Now why would she be visiting the Court?

Really. I'm going to start magically liking Jones and the fact that Tom's ensured we won't get anything resembling Jones riding a dinosaur?

Great, one more boring-rear end trilobite. Tons of potential lost and for what? Because Tom didn't feel like taking any chances. Can't have the main characters riding dinosaurs, despite all the little hints (and sometimes not so little ones) dropped all over the place. Must make them older, boring, and ensure they wind up with the worst fossils in the world.

Yeah, tell me what there is to look forward to with this era, hoss. You seem to be all for it. Jones's the most boring lead in any time-travel story since Chiba Mamoru from Sailormoon. There's not a single interesting (or redeeming) thing about her and yet it's looking increasingly like Annie's going to end up Medium.

Because trilobites, that's why. God forbid GCC take a chance with anything. Nope, must conform to the status quo and leave that dino poo poo to the weirdo characters, right?

Yeah, no. gently caress you and gently caress Tom. I guess it's nice he made a 'please stop reading my webcomic, it's becoming like any other time-travel' arc though. Real considerate-like. Always good to see straightforward, boring fuckin' trilobites. And at the end, Jones will witness the beginning of the universe, Annie'll find out what Jones is, and Kat'll be there to talk about robots or some other stereotypically generic thing. Because Jones must be boring, always and forever.

Nice. :golfclap:

Until recently I was working in a lab that works with these guys - they're looking at the mechanism by which the venom does its thing.

They're really beautiful too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerald_cockroach_wasp

The wasp in the picture of the Wikipedia article is a female - males don't have the extra tusk-like appendages on the head.

Doing a bit of re-reading from that point. A mystery raised at the time was how Jeanne was able to cross the river. Muut and Mort thought she wouldn't be able to. Has that ever been addressed, or is that still unknown?

Rereading it, I think Jeanne crossed via the ether using Annie's blinker stone. That's why the injury doesn't show up on her physical body.

I guess European robins are pretty small, but American robins are actually quite large for a songbird. They're somewhat smaller than a pigeon.

Makes me wonder what bird that big foot belongs to.
