I agree with Tom, you can really judge the character of a friend by their desire to kill you.

Well, it's a sign of fairly good writing if "what I assume" the adult audience is confused by the actions of young teenagers.

I don't remember doing anything like this when I was that age, but I'm sure I pulled some confusingly motivated actions.

Wait, Robot didn't just die did he? I mean, it looks like it could be an introspective realization in the last panels, but at the same time the lighting is worrying me.

Either way, good update.

Robot didn't die. He's survived being reduced to a single chip. His eyes are also lit up through all panels. As you said, he's just having a moment.

Okay, figured that was the case. That darkening fade-out certainly conveys some emotion and gravity to the situation though.

Arg, I so hated that line, because it's such a tease. Annie clearly knows what's up with Jones now, but because it hasn't come up naturally in the narrative, we the audience don't know.

It's very good writing, but as a reader....damnit.

But Blue was previously seen to be the more level-headed and sensible of the pair. Would she really construct an elaborate series of illusions feigning some kind of danger just to make her friend like her more? That would be silly and self-indulgent.

I don't see her as being that sensible. Remember, her whole basis for being Red's friend was that her hair went up. Seems fairly petty, even given the typical fairy personality.

You know, rather than summon anything, Blue could have done something to manipulate everyone's feelings/perceptions.

Think that's an actual crack in the wall, or a metaphorical crack in Annie's psyche?

Probably both. I also think it's kinda neat that we've got the narration bubbles in lue of dialogue again. We haven't seen those in a long time. I suppose one could read it as her closing down talking with other people about this.
