What are the best options for IPS 4k monitors under $1000? Any in the under $600 range?

Apologies for the mobile link but if I am not looking for overclocking(on a mac) how does this stack up against the korean 1440s? The biggest thing that jumps out is dual link dvi or hdmi are my only real choices. http://www.monoprice.com/mobile/product/details/13808

Zorilla posted:If you're on a Mac, you're going to want a monitor with DisplayPort (unless you're on an older Mac Pro or Hackintosh and have a discrete graphics card with dual link DVI). Without it, the best you'll be able to do is 1920x1200@60Hz. While HDMI 2.0 can go higher, I doubt that monitor or your Mac support anything newer than 1.3. Thanks! I figured that would be the case. I guess I'll try to hunt down a 1440 monitor with displayport during the sales this weekend.

I've been looking for a 4k monitor I can use with my mac primarily for programming. Am I going to much better than https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0JC-000D-005B0 for $300? Note: With it being a 27", I don't plan on actually using it in raw 4k mode, just retina mode.

Thanks and on retina mode, I mean I wont be using it strictly as a 4k monitor, with retina mode you get different steps of resolution, I'll probably use it at 3008 x 1692 or 3360 x 1890 resolution. I need it for programming and 27" true 4k is too small for me.
