Mom's 5 year old monitor died today. Newegg has the LG IPS224V-PN on sale for $119 today, not sure if I should jump on that or just stick with the Dell S2240M I was planning on getting for $20 more. Thoughts?

If you can squeeze a few more bucks from that budget the Dell Ultrasharp U2412M is down to $238 on Amazon now, the 2nd lowest price it's ever been.

Tigerdirect has a sale on the U2412M right now for $185 after $15 coupon and $50 mail-in rebate. The rebate sucks but even without it it's still just $235. Shipping is $11 or free if you have Shoprunner, no tax in most places..

Cool, you have convinced me. The 1920x1200 u2whateverM is available on amazon for $220.00 right now. Now I just want to know if I'll get a better deal (or lose out) by waiting until Monday for this beast.

$220 is the cheapest this monitor has ever been on Amazon, it's not going any lower. This is the Black Friday sale price.

I'm building a PC for my son to do homework and play some video games, things like Minecraft and TABS and stuff. I found this monitor on Slickdeals for $110 that seems like a good deal, any thoughts?

I'm currently using a 2013 iMac 27" but want to get back to building a new PC soon. Is there any way I can use the iMac as the monitor?

It would be a gaming computer but not highest end I guess. If I can run current games at close to max settings at 60 fps, that's fine with me. Googling this gives me conflicting info as my iMac uses Thunderbolt ports and I'd need an adapter. Even if I could get this to work, the use of an adapter makes me worried about it introducing a performance bottleneck.

You can but it's very limited. Your particular iMac needs to be on High Sierra or earlier, and you need to use the thunderbolt connection, so mainly only other Macs or if you have the rare PC with a thunderbolt connector

Does anyone know where I can get a monitor warranty from SquareTrade? They sell one for "computer peripherals" that covers monitors but their site doesn't have a way to buy it and the only place I found it was from Amazon but is seems to only be for monitors purchased from Amazon and not elsewhere.

If you were to get a 27” monitor, would you rather it be 1440p or 144hz if you couldn’t do both? Some games but not a lot of FPS, things like Rocket League or skateboarding games mostly.

Build the GPU into the monitor and connect it directly to your PCs PCIe slot IMO
