Oh wow that's definitely more than I remembered. Still, there was a time earlier last year where I was behind by about 3 months.

I also prefer MP3s because I use Smart AudioBook for android and I just love the way it handles audiobooks/long mp3s. I can reboot my entire phone and when I open the app it will remember what I was last listening to in the exact same spot. Also there's an EQ in it which means I can make the volume way louder than I can in the Sirius app.

If you believe Bubba, things started going downhill in the 1st year after one of his guests threaten to sue for harassment. It was some porn star that get talked into doing Shock the Puss or what ever porn thing he had them do in his studio. Bubba claims the woman was running a con and if it went to trial she's loose. Sirius settled out of court and made Bubba pay the cash settlement out of his earnings. This seemed to sour the relationship with an exec he refuses to name on air. When the contract was about to expire, Sirius stalled him so he singed up to do mornings on some Florida FM channel and then Sirius offered him afternoons and Friday mornings. This is actually my favorite era, party because I was working a lovely job and having back to back shows on 100 and 101 made the day tolerable.

That being said, If you listen to early Bubba, he's reallllllllllly creepy with any female guest. It's obvious most the strippers on his show were likely part of some prostitution/human trafficking ring run by his associates. It was a well known rumor that Bubba was a silent partner in one of those "Dorm room" 24/7 cam sites that were popular in the early '00s.

The funny thing is that he is most famous for the Hulk Hogan video and the death of Gawker. I actually never liked Bubba because I felt that he was the grossest, creepiest part of shock jock without the wit that let the good ones get away with it. Him getting sued by a guest is far from surprising.

Only clip of Bubba i've ever heard in my entire life was a clip (prob posted in one of our threads) where due to a guy losing signal and a very distinct sound it made, someone asked "did that that guy just turn into sand?" and it's one of the funniest clips ever and I went to go find it to post here but it appears to have been scrubbed from the internet

Does anyone have the segment when they played back recordings of Riley doing standup with "food poisoning"? I have looked all over YouTube and it seems to be gone. Anymore if I want good Riley laughs I'll listen to the compilation of people pranking his show.

I read a YouTube comment on the segment with Anthony Zipper and his deceased, taxidermied daughter Calistra that blew my mind. They stated that Anthony sounded like the balloon shop supervisor using Eric the (Midget) Actor sound clips. And that his wife, “Helen”, the one on the phone talking to Eric about wearing a special outfit while he flies with balloon. She claimed to work at a balloon store in Staten Island.

I know, of course, the calls were in jest and all that, but I NEVER made that connection!

I am aware that those two actors (from Electric Eel Entertainment) that THSS used in the past but not constantly!

There was some stuff in the late 90s where Grodin said something about Howard. I don't remember what it was but it was likely the usual that most people say, so Howard had him on this poo poo list for a few years. It also probably bothered him that he had a late night interview show which Stern has always wanted.

reddit has as few more details.

https://www.reddit.com/r/howardstern/comments/nfmnit/howards_feud_with_charles_grodin/

Grodin had this "bit" where he was just a cantankerous rear end in a top hat (Boomer?) and would even give Carson poo poo. That rubbed some people the wrong way. What, you think he did all those Beethoven movies because he liked them? He wasn't exactly in demand then.

He'll probably never even go back to NYC. I can see him freaking out that he has to share the same plumbing as the rest of the building.

When he signed the new contract he seemed to imply that they would be getting back to studio at some point, but there is no question he wants to stay home. I usually have a lot of patience with the show, but the last month of shows have been downright bad. Handjob Connie is the only aspect that I have found interesting lately, but that likely will never turn in to anything and Ronnie is leaving in the next few months.

like how Stern always tries to foment rivalries and drama and try to get the guests to poo poo talk their colleagues. maybe he doesn't do that anymore, I haven't listened in like half a decade but it used to be one of Stern's defining characteristics
