Hey now.

Does anyone know the first time they addressed “let’s gently caress some whores”? Like around what date? I’ve got most of that era on mp3 but marksfriggin was no help last time I searched.

Those Ronnie clips are from the first three or four weeks of them being on Sirius iirc. I listened to 2006 last year and was surprised how early they played it. Doug Goodstein was involved somehow on the recording, I think it was some early HowardTV bullshit.

Ahh. Would that have been around the time of “the station did a horrible thing, nobody comes, nobody calls, what kind of business is this?????”

So did we, but then people went about their lives. Did you sit in rapt attention for the rest of the day? Because I saw people at the grocery store, the mall by where I lived had a full parking lot. Bars and restaurants were packed with people talking and expressing their feelings or just drowning fear in food and alcohol. The world didn’t shut down.

Artie had some really, really good stories and for the most part at least knew how to not step on a good bit and when to chime in. Toward the end that....wasn't quite the case but when Artie was on, he was on.

Agreed. I might be harder on Artie than necessary because I associate him with a couple real unfunny periods of the show. 1. Pre Sirius when the censorship was off the roof, Howard complained about the government constantly and commercials were constant. 2003-04 ish. And then late Artie when he went full train wreck, it was almost al they talked about and he didn’t contribute much beyond diabetes and heroin abuse symptoms for Howard to make jokes out of.

John is a fool who has somehow fallen upwards in life, but he did have two talents on the show: stirring poo poo up and having serious balls with his celebrity interviews. Ambushing celebrities in public with offensive questions is one of Stern's greatest innovations and it will never not be funny. They tried to use Gary Garver in California but it was never the same.

Gary Garver did bring us Darth Nihilus but beyond that he seemed to have a really weird attitude and would like get mad when people would get annoyed with him.

No this was a full game with trivia about the show, mostly things that happened before those guys worked there. The claim was sal was writing on both sides of the card if he wasn’t sure. One of the answers was shadow Stevens!

I'm willing to the bet the $850k thing is BS and once again, the sad truth is that most "stock brokers" for the last 20 years are just telemarketers. There are financial advisers and hedge fund managers out there, but most brokers disappeared in the dot com days when you started to be able to buy/sell/trade on your own. Now the brokers have to try to drum up business by selling unwanted assets to the ignorant.

Even if he managed to pull off $850k in a year (definitely prior to the dotcom bust in the late 90s), remember that his wife used to drop four figures on handbags. He admitted in 2009 that they were in massive debt.

Dot com bust was in 01 right? He probably had made that kind of money once before that. There was a lot floating around during the bubble. Probably after the bust they floated on savings and he ended up on the show in like 04.

Probably spent like they made 850k every year though.

I mean back when the show was a radio show, a lot of it was theater of the mind. They would have girls on and it didn’t matter what they really looked like, it mattered what the listener thought they looked like.

The correct answer is:
Children's Size 12, which in the US is a 7.14" shoe.
Source: Fairly early on when Howard is trying to get Eric to fly with balloons, he asks Eric if he'd wear a cape and superhero outfit, which he declines. Johnny Fratto says he'll have a really nice suit made for him with little alligator-skin shoes, which he also declines. Howard asks if he even wears shoes, since he can't walk, and then if he has to get his shoes from a special place, which Eric replies that he usually just gets children's shoes, size 12

Question #2: Eric took a correspondence course in *what* field?

The last I read, Howard is making $80m a year and doing 112 shows. Even for him there is definitely prep time for each show, but that adds up to $714k per show. That's one hell of a deal.

Is that all his money or is part of it doled out for staff salaries
