Come to think of it, is the listlessness of Howard himself kind of a psychological strike against Sirius? Think about it - there's only so much denial you can be in to realize that the past three years of the show has just been not good at all. Sure, there's bright spots, but when you compare them to the overall presentation...that's why they stand out the most.

I remember around 2010 he would incessantly bitch and moan (with good reason) against people like Oprah, Martha Stewart, Jamie Foxx and even Eminem representing Sirius, but not coming in-studio anywhere near enough as often as he does. He was actually envious that Oprah in particular got paid millions for nothing.

So what does this say about him? Is he purposely dottering around making the show suck on purpose? He also did AGT, and he used to be vitrolic against anyone who tried to do two full-time jobs at once because one of them would suffer more for it. As he's said on a few occasions - "there are no mistakes."

Well I mean at this point, what's left for him to accomplish in his career? He already had a #1 show in dozens of markets all across the country. Its not like he still needs to crush local morning zoo shows anymore.

Well, yeah, I agree - so why did he resign? He had to know losing Artie would make a difference, plus he was already having issues with Sirius in 2010. What, no one else remembers the whole "SIM card" concept and him yelling "I want someone to ROMANCE ME!!!!!!" bullshit?

If it's money, why not just do the AGT gig in 2011 or similar and be a goof like Howie Mandel - former comedian, now yukky game show host?

Okay, I don't wanna be "that guy" in the thread but can someone PLEASE tell me the date of the show where Dee Snider was in during Robin's news, and they goofed on the Academy Awards and Steven Spielberg's black kids? I think it was 3/29/1999, but MarksFriggin (as extensive as he is) does not delve into the whole bit at all.

It was 20+ minutes long and loving hilarious. A lot of Amos & Andy imitations of what Steven's kids probably sound like.

If anyone knows, tell me!

Out of YouTube desperation I did find this last night, it's not the clip but still hilarious! Especially when they propose "what if Dracula was black"

I have all of 2009. There's some clever editing with some of the segues between tracks, not all but some. I think I lucked out and nabbed them off Mediafire or something.

If you have a suggestion, I can put them as a .zip and put em somewhere. Let me know.

I was waiting on my order, and I knew it was him but I still had to be sure. The backpack he's wearing had a Ronnie Mund Block Party ad/sticker on the back, so I told him I was a big fan and he said, "uhhh hey that's cool man whatever".

It was a very brief conversation. I did tell him I was envious he met Eric the Midget, and that I was surprised to see him at a place like Five Guys which is a major step up from his usual McDonald's.
I haven't listened to any new content in probably 18 months so I honestly didn't know what to discuss with him. It was just as awkward as you'd imagine.

My wife and her cousin honestly had no idea why I was psyched by meeting him. Can you believe I've lived in NYC, biggest city in this country, for 5 loving years, and the first random celebrity encounter I get is of all people JD? The mind boggles.

edit: The topper was, he took his food to go. Of course he would.

He always wanted to be a game show host because it was a cushy job. He never wanted to be Bob Barker or Alex Trebek - he wanted to be Howie Mandel or Simon Cowell. Him joining AGT was the reason I stopped watching, I knew he did it because he was greedy. It was the antithesis of everything he made fun of only a few short years prior. Sad, man, sad.

In the spirit of all of this, and I don't think this is :filez: since it was never officially released, here is KC Armstrong's DVD, "Die Laughing."

Surprised no one commented on this.

I'm watching this now and it re-affirms my belief that not only is/was KC Armstrong a Wack Packer, but also one of the scariest and potentially harmful members of the show. People like to poke fun at Fred for that title, or even Eliot Offen, but christ is KC a mess. The editing and typos in this video had to be by KC solely, I mean why else would it take almost ten years to release? It's all over the place, and it's just really demented.

An aside, what's your favorite KC moment? Mine was the gay parade appearance wearing a Carolina "COX" hat but KC being oblivious to the connection. :haw:

I'd like to add:

* Gilbert Gottfried vs. Barbara the German Jew
* Gina Dance
* interview with Rich Cronin (one of the best, even though I dreaded hearing it - irony)
* first appearance of Hank the Dwarf, it's actually uncensored on Youtube and Hank shows his penis :lol:
* Artie imitating Chaz Bono

and, my god, I was looking for this for years...

* Howard mocking Steven Spielberg and his black kids -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBVq4bEylvQ

There's another segment where he, along with Dee Snider, continues in this vein and it's loving hilarious. It's so great - I remember him imitating if his kids got pulled over in a white neighborhood..."Dey can't arrest us, we the Spielberg boys! Quick, let's run to our sookie! [sukkah]"

Basically Artie was in full-on meltdown mode because the military couldn't get them a flight out to be home by July 4, so he lashed out at everyone. Gary was filming it all going down at the airport, Artie caught him and called him some pretty harsh things. He said he never saw Artie in that state, and he just felt he wanted to document it but Artie felt he had different motives.

I think that was added as a new chapter for paperback, actually. I dunno - it's damned if you do damned if you don't, really. As a fan of Artie, I lost a lot of respect for him with that second book because he told a lot of dark, depressing poo poo that went down circa 2010-2012 only to find out at the end that he was making a fair amount of it up.

Artie's tenure was great the first 3/4ths of the way, but after his heroin revelation he pretty much went to poo poo. Sure, there were good stories and bits in there - landing in the middle of bumfuck Connecticut, going to Afghanistan, the Dana/Vinnie "two whores to Letterman" fuckup, hell even sleeping on the air the first time...not to mention his imitations of Chaz, the Guy Who Laughs At Everything with JD...

But when you listen to replays of any show from 2009 it's extremely tedious because way WAYYYYYY too much time is spent on Artie being sick. "What's wrong with Artie", "is he or isn't he", etc....goes on for hours. In the words of Casey Kasem, it's ponderous man. Fuckin ponderous.

It's not genuine and that's why the show doesn't work at all now. There's no originality. It doesn't surprise me Stern is trying to spin himself as an interviewer than an entertainer on his own show, because that's the last bit of honesty the show has. The rest are just corny, obvious bits.
