I liked it but I can see where people would get bored with it. The action is well done but people think the lack of plot, designs and fast pacing make it tedious. Watch it and make up your own mind, the first episode is only 30 minutes.

I was looking through what Moon Phase has up and I just realized that only three mecha TV anime are slated to come out for the rest of the year. Sacred Seven, Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere and Appleseed XIII. Also the fact that since we're almost to the middle of the year no more will probably be announced for 2011. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHIfg14Jfm4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbZ-pWuAdc0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPnph7XPIPI

Rumor is that Tomino is going to be announcing his next project at Charahobby and back in March he mentioned in a magazine he'd be intreasted in doing more Ideon but who knows really. Happy Tomino doing Ideon would just end up being weird.

From what I've heard while he didn't do the series composition or write any of the scripts Nagano wrote the character back stories when he was doing design work. FSS came about because Nagano was disappointed in L.Gaim as a series.

Aquarion Evol gots an air date, sort of. It's coming out in January. Unlike the first Aquarion this one seems to have a second director with Kawamori acting as series director. Probably a good thing. Well it would be but the only other things Yusuke Yamamoto helmed were Welcome to the NHK, Sgt. Frog, a porn OVA and some show about a ferret. Also Hiroshi Ohnogi and Kawamori don't seem to be writing this time. Mari Okada is and while she does mostly adaptations she did the composition for Fractale and Sasami Magical Girls Club... None of this is imparting hope on me.

To put all of this in perspective the only anime movie I know of that was animated by one guy was Midori a 47 minute long 1992 work of a crazy man which took five years and his entire life savings. While I don't doubt that Nagano did most of the key art I'm not going to begrudge him two extra hands and a guy to check their work on something that's going to be 70 minutes (they still don't know for sure but that's the last number they released) and has taken the last eight or so years.

I'm pretty sure that two warring factions in space realized that there were robots on earth and sent people to keep them from the other side. One side got there first but found they couldn't use them so decided to tell the earth governments that the other side was invading so that pilots would be found for them. The robots probably have a Xenoglossia thing going on where they pick their pilots, which since Shigeru Morita was involved in both show's concept creation it makes sense. I'm enjoying the show but it's pretty middle of the road out side of the art and animation so far. The Nissan robots are growing on me though.

Mecha in general is less obscure and misunderstood than it is not cared about. No one but robot fans buys mecha for for mecha and that's not a lot of people. For your average buyer walking down the isle fanservice isn't a barrier that people on the internet make it out to be. Not only isn't fanservice a barrier it's pretty much the show's best selling point out in the wild. There's a reason Gravion and it's sequel got five collected releases and stuff like Imagawa's Tetsujin 28 were dead on arrival.

I have been waiting years for Giant Gorg to get subbed. It's going to be insanely tempting to watch these now like it was tempting to watch the five episodes animeclassics subbed. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko has only directed five things and this has been the only hold out. gently caress Bandai/Sunrise forever for sabotaging the release of this and Layzner. As a fan of both YAS and giant robots I really hope they stick to this.

I want a Combattler V movie so bad after that video. You could cut the first 26 episodes into a two hour movie easy and if it looked anything like that it would be great. Come on Toei don't let pachinko players have all the good stuff.

I finished Xabungle the other week and I'm about 14 episodes from finishing L.Gaim and I'd say I like Xabungle more. I've heard that the show goes pear shaped in the last run of L.Gaim but I haven't gotten to that yet. Xabungle seems like a much more focused work which is funny considering it's a high energy comedy. Don't get me I really liked most of L.Gaim but Xabungle is just fun to watch.

I've heard that the the design for Ginguiser was so half assed that at one point Studio Nue wanted their name taken off the production credits. There's also the fact that it's an obvious Raideen rip off with a little Combattler sprinkled on.

You're misremembering the gossip. The story was that Maria Kawamura rejected Tomino's advances after he cast her in just about everything he made in the 80s for Nagano, who she later married in 1991, and that depressed Tomino depressed Tomino enough to make Victory Gundam. It should be noted that Tomino has been married since the 70s and a father since the early 80s. Tomino also cast Maria again later in Brain Powerd when he got back on the directing horse. It's bullshit.
