Edit2: There's a $400 stool that is also supposedly designed to strengthen your core by making you fight to stay upright. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/01/wigli-stool-has-your-back/ It's made by the Dutch, whose milkmaids know a thing or two about stools.

Or you could spend ~$40 instead? I did this when I had a desk at home. Get the right size and it is very comfortable for long periods.

Can anyone else comment on whether this chair is decent or not? I don't have the dough to really afford a Herman Miller at the moment (student), but this is within my price range.

The Leap is awesome. I can't recommend it enough. I would definitely make sure you get the Leap V2, though. I snagged a V2 to replace my original at work - the arms have more adjustments and are more comfortable, the chair adjusts its seat angle automatically to support you if you lean forward as I tend to do when a particularly stupid email comes in and I have to make sure I am reading it right (it helps to lean forward, squint, and then mutter "you idiot(s)" before leaning back smugly). The V1 had manual adjustments for that, but that interrupts my more-superior-than-thou display of smugness. The back of the chair is also a little bit more comfortable and a bit bigger. V2 > V1.

Oh, well that's less exciting :( Can't help there, sorry.

That was a good deal. The Leap V1 is a great chair with only minor differences from the V2.

I just nabbed the base model Mirra (the original) off CL for $100, and even in it's minimally-adjustable form, it is a very comfortable chair if you're a desk-monkey for 6+ hours a day. If you see one of these, don't be afraid of it - it's well worth it.

Yes. If your butt spends most of its time in front of a computer, it needs to be in something like a Leap. As far as I am concerned, a good chair is as important as a good mattress.

As sad as that sounds.
