Behind Enemy Lines: Tactical Update 18 “That’s it, I’m sounding a full retreat,” Hellhound broadcast, the Cerberus leaning over, a massive battle fist catching the fallen War Dog under the stump of its right arm. He lifted as Ballista stood, helping the lighter machine back to its feet. The War Dog had a notoriously high center of gravity and while its cockpit provided excellent vision it was notorious for cracking its own head open in a forward fall. The War Dog teetered as Ballista found his balance again, raising the Gauss Rifle clutched in his left fist in salute. “Thanks, Hellhound.” “I still haven’t been able to raise The Package,” Lumberjack transmitted. “Either the Capellan techs hosed up the Grand Titan’s comms or nobody bothered to tell him our operating frequency. Damned sloppy, either way.” “Can the idle chatter. Bad, Lumberjack, you’re first into the badlands. You’re vanguard for the Grand Titan. Ballista and I will bring up the rear. If we buy it, try to follow the Titan’s lead.” “What’s stopping them from just following us?” Bad inquired, his swift Maelstrom already building up to a run. “They don’t know whether or not the rest of our Company is waiting for them,” Hellhound broadcast. He added, just in case anyone really was listening in, “which it is. If we can get far enough from the city, they’ll let us go. Besides,” Hellhound grimaced, hating how heartless he knew he was about to sound. “There’re a lot of civilians who just saw the Confederation attack an HPG. Also a good summary of why you don't attack DropShips. Technically only a third of that can fire into any one arc, but "only a third that" is the armament of some pretty respectable war machines. Some rear end in a top hat decided that their new tech was "kill everybody" important. They certainly wouldn't let Comstar send the message that would bring an entire army down on their priceless military assets.

Alright, so the Nightstar can escape right now, while the Maelstrom and Grand Titan can get away in two turns. The War Dog and Cerberus will probably need three or more, if they manage to make it at all. One strategy for the latter two might be to go northeast and swing around the raised terrain where the Green Ranger is, since there's a length of flat ground leading straight up to the exit point.

Warcrimes are like rib eating competitions. To have any chance at all you have to be all in from the first siren, knowing full well you'll be spending the business end of the event just trying to get it all finished without throwing up.
