On the plus side, it probably saved the Po from taking a Gauss Rifle shot to the rear armor.

Background characters love them even though they're terrible human beings. Villains tend to be more interesting than the protagonists. Combat reads a bit like turn-by-turn tabletop play. Coleman: The Capellan Confederation can do no wrong, "One man's terrorist is another man's patriot" main characters, antagonists are either cardboard cut-outs or suddenly become staggeringly incompetent whenever the main character shows up. Has no sympathetic characters. Pardoe: Occasional weird callbacks or references to Civil War battles and/or Southern Pride. Main characters are occasionally flawed enough to be interesting (with Archer Christfori as the biggest exception). Uses Stackpoling egregiously. Combat tends to read like you're playing Mechwarrior 3.

Auxilia: Tactical Update 6 “My god,” Barna Roland breathed into his microphone. His callsign was ‘Heat Sink,’ earned half-a-decade ago when he’d been drummed out of the Davion Light Guards. Hotheaded and brash, he tended to panic and make poor decisions when he got emotional, leading his last commander to comment that he needed an extra heat sink for his head. “One of them is still moving!” A tree, its trunk split by PPC fire, emitted a loud popping crack and fell, kicking up another cloud of billowing smoke and ash that obscured his target once again. Erring on the side of caution, eight members of the Demon Hawks—a full two lances—had poured their fire into the squad of beetle-like infantry that had been playing IRIS’s little Locust. It would have been enough to annihilate a `Mech, level most buildings, or cripple several platoons of infantry, and yet as far as Barna could tell they’d only managed to kill four infantrymen. Even if that specific squad had been crippled the fact that even one of them might still be capable of fighting was unnerving. “That’s Battle Armor for you,” their Liaison officer said nonchalantly, as though he’d expected it. “Most of our shots missed. A well-trained squad isn’t worried about shrapnel the way normal infantrymen are, so they’ll move around constantly even when under fire. They’re small, and fast targets, and shaped just enough like BattleMechs that sometimes your DI computer will freak out a little. Just take a deep breath and keep pouring on the fire, and don’t let them—” “Get these guys off of me!” There was more than a little panic in Yul Liao’s voice. The young man was Capellan born, but bore only the faintest hint of a Russian accent. Aside from his unfortunate last name, he had no known relation to the Confederation’s ruling family. The callsign “Chancellor” had been obvious, even to Barna. Barna twisted, his blood running cold as he watched gray-armored bodies with odd, mottled white feather patterns swarm over the Capellan pilot’s machine. Yul was taciturn and serious and Barna didn’t much like him, but even he wasn’t sure he wanted to watch the other man get torn to shreds by three-meter war machines. “Hold your fire!” Alec broadcast, “You’ll hit him if you try to ‘help.’ Yul, listen very carefully. They’ll kill you before you can get into the water and you don’t have jump jets so you need to throw your machine at the ground as hard as you think you can. Give yourself whiplash if you have to, and try to crush one of them if you can, but shake them off before they can get a good grip!” Movement Phase Anvil (Player) - Attempts to enter hex 1317, but the hex is already occupied! So, out of morbid curiousity, I decided to go back and track exactly what happen to that poor bastard pilot in the Kit Fox C. Update 3: Lost arm with all the mech's weapons. Reduced to a walking ECM Platform and little else. Update 4: Shot in face by a MPL. One Pilot Hit. Shot in the torso and had his AMS ammo explode. Two more pilot hits and fails consciousness test. Falls over, fails piloting test because of being knocked out. One more pilot hit. Update 6: Finally wakes up, attempts to stand, fails, falls over, and knocks himself out again. 5 Pilot Hits total. That man's life is suffering.

So the two Kirghiz are back. Time to do some AAA again, because you really don't want to risk being strafed by those things again. If the NRWR are providing air support, bringing down the Clan air cover will make your life much, much easier-and even if they aren't, the fragile but incredibly deadly Clan ASFs are things you don't want flying around attacking multiple targets with every gun run.

Be careful which direction you're facing. Even though the Kirghiz have moved 'past' the players, most of you are still in their aerospace hex. They can and will shoot you in the back if you're facing directly south.

Welp, the convoy is about to run straight into the enemy battlemechs; better still, I'm pretty sure most of the convoy is actually in kicking range of the enemy mechs. Not that the enemy is going to bother with that, though: I bet the clanners will be perfectly happy to sit behind that big building and blast the idiots as they drive by from point-blank range, with no real fear of being shot at by the players. Assuming, of course, that Elementals aren't waiting in the bottom most H4 buildings... Regardless, someone might want to ignore the Elementals and engage the clan mechs, so the convoy doesn't get obliterated by bored clanners...

It's a shame we can't shoot swarming elementals off friendly mechs. I mean, hosing friendly tanks down with machinegun fire to discourage enemy infantry from climbing onto them is a well established tradition in real life. That's why they make 'em bulletproof right? :p
