I couldn't actually remember if it had an S or not. I think my logic was, hey, they'd totally make lasers with ammo. That ammo would be cells. Quickcell!

And then like a true Quickscell product, it exploded in my face immediately. Oh well.

Lasers with ammo is a thing, Chemical Lasers. Good for stuff that doesn't have a fusion engine so you don't need weighty conversion equipment.

No, that's not how Quikscell operates.

You give them a 50 vehicle order, they check the warehouse. If they have any vehicles completed, great, you get `em. Then they check the showroom floor and give you any display models that actually work (as well as any that don't, you're resourceful, you can sort it out).

After that, they check the factory and they give you anything that's partially completed but near-enough to done that you can hopefully install the engine / armor / weapons yourself.

If that still isn't enough to instantly complete the order, they then send you all of the individual components and (hopefully) correctly-shaped-but-not-welded-together internal structure bits necessary to make the machine you ordered, which they then box up in a crate labeled "1 Savannah Master" and ship off with the completed and nearly-completed stuff.

And if you've got a complaint you're more than welcome to mail the incomplete units back (at cost) so Quikscell's factory can perform inspections and, when their experts find those boxes of parts are in full working order, they'll assemble them for you as an "aftermarket refit" at a hefty mark-up. And if you don't like it and refuse to pay they keep the completed units and put them in the warehouse to wait for the next order.

Quikscell is the best.

Oh, is that new with your setting?

In the normal setting the only complaints of missing parts were that equipment was just thrown into the cabin unassembled, not that they were giving completely unassembled models.

And the CC was going to bring the hammer down on them if they didn't cut that poo poo out with their huge hetzer orders, which resulted in an overall quality control increase for hetzers because it was cheaper to just do it right than face CC penalties.

From TRO 3039:

"The only major House to purchase Hetzers in any quantity is Liao, where Hetzers can be found in garrison units throughout the Capellan Confederation. [EDITOR’S NOTE: This has proven to be a boon to less prestigious buyers. Hetzers were often delivered with some auxiliary systems absent or casually dropped in the tank’s crew compartment. A condition of the Capellan contract is that Hetzers ship with all wiring and secondary systems installed. Quikscell determined it was more cost-effective to complete assembly on all Hetzers, not just the Capellans’, than to continue paying out on warranties for minor customers.]"

Also they don't make savannah masters.

Yeah, I could totally see Quikscell make it standard practice to assemble everything before shipping just in case one of their 'box of parts labeled "1 Hetzer"' ends up in Capellan hands through duplicitous means.

Also, happy 1600 page.

Eh, I dunno. In canon, the Cappellan's bag is pretty much to be a punching bag for the "good" guys and to be cartoon villains. They're Snidley Whiplash: The Faction.

Part of why I cheer them on so much in this thread is that while they've retained some of their more... morally questionable qualities, they're being written by someone that doesn't doom them to failure from the start. They're not designated villains, they're just another group of people in the universe when PTN writes them.

Also, war crimes. :china:

That's only in the original 3025 setting. By Sun Tzu's era, Capellans were becoming one of the most prosperous nations, their ruler was the first Star Lord, they entered into an alliance with the two strongest periphery nations and were enriching their industries, they were making political alliances and marriages with some FWL houses. The trinity alliance era was an era of them becoming a force to be reckoned with again, and after the Jihad they were the only ones with the foresight to stand up to the RAF and refuse disarmament.

I don't like playing favorites, so I like to make sure anyone I'm personally biased in favor of can't / doesn't appear. For example: I will never get to write for Nikolai Malthus. Cassie's a little girl. Cowboy's too young to pilot a BattleMech. Subhash Indrahar, Chandrasekhar Kurita, and The Mirza Peter Abdulsattah don't pilot `Mechs.

And then I threw it all out the window this campaign because Duncan Kalma and Jason Youngblood. :v:

I didn't read any of the jihad stuff, but my (obviously fuzzy and opinionated) memory of the Sun Tzu era was mostly people standing around going "That dastardly chinaman is up to something!" and trying to gently caress with him. I liked Sun Tzu (name aside) as a character, and he was definitely competent and different than his predecessors, but he seemed to largely be treated the same in the narrative despite it. His role as First Lord was largely so other characters could get pissed off about it.

Nah.

I've just got a very dry sense of humor so I have a tendency to rattle off nonsense and/or tell increasingly elaborate hyperboles in an effort to amuse others. I do answer serious lore questions, but the inner workings of most in-universe megacorporations I've never really investigated.

Air Raid: Tactical Update 6

Star Captain Haze’s right arm rested limp and still on the armrest of his command couch, insensate fingers hanging from the end rather than resting on the targeting joystick. The cold, metal cybernetic implant stretched from the tip of his fingers to his spine. Thin and spindly, it lacked the bulk of real muscle and bone. Myomer was much stronger than human muscle, it didn’t take much to exceed normal human strength. Too much and his replacement arm would shatter his own ribcage. Bulking it out to resemble the real thing would have been simple enough, but no effort had been taken to do so—such cosmetic alterations were wasteful and Haze was supposed to simply be grateful that the Clan had used some of its precious myomer to make him whole once again.

He hated everything about it, and his other cybernetics. His legs were gone, the strong but spindly replacements swam in his uniform fatigues. On windy days the way his baggy clothing moved made him resemble a floating torso wearing a pair of pants as some sort of elaborate joke. Both eyes had been lost as well, the replacements cloned in vats and ringed with control circuitry interfaced with his brain. The right side of his face was gone, the charred bones on that side of his skull replaced with shaped metal plates and armored plastic covering a graft of synthetic skin. There was no feedback, no life to any of it. His nerves has been too badly damaged in the fiery wake of the Rim World Republic’s attack. The medical technicians had told him he was lucky to be alive, if they’d found him only a few minutes later he’d have burned to death.

Lucky to be alive, and despising every minute of it.

Haze had been sidelined after being rebuilt, he refused to use his right arm in the cockpit. Any action he couldn’t perform with the left alone went completely ignored. The Clan hadn’t liked that he’d chosen to spit on their generosity. Even one-handed he was still a better MechWarrior than any of the second line troops he’d been saddled with. He’d drilled them until they obeyed without question, until the old has-beens and never-weres were something approaching acceptable. They were too afraid of him to question his orders, even when they were unClanlike. There was no room in the charred, blackened heart the MedTechs had replaced like so much damaged engine shielding for honor.

There were only two things Haze cared about now: vengeance, and death. Only the latter would be a comfort for him, the former wouldn’t bring him any contentment. Even tearing Stefan Amaris’s throat out with his teeth would do nothing to satisfy him.

“On the left,” Haze growled, his damaged vocal chords buzzing painfully when the circuitry that let him speak took over. “Primary target is the Rim World Omnimech. Fire in three. Two—”

Orders Due: Midnight Saturday!

PTN's note: Hopefully, anyway! I know this is short notice but my little sister's getting married on the 22nd. I'm going to be flying out on Sunday the 15th, and I still have every intention of finishing an update this Saturday (updates are relaxing, which is exactly what I need since the plane takes off at 5:00AM!). If I run out of time or have any last-minute issues I may not be able to finish in time, after which there won't be another update until the 25th. I don't intend to miss my sister's wedding for anything.

Looks like the Atlas, Grasshopper, and Dragoon are pulling some kind of Benny Hill routine in the middle.

I am a mouth, and I must scream

How is that Vandal still in the air? :stare: At least it's down to one laser.

Death before dishonor?
Your terms are accepted.

That pilot is the luckiest motherfucker ever. Flying a metal block of swiss cheese, dead stick, in a hurricane, doing a ground strike, and still manages to survive. gently caress that guy.

Also, I see Star Captain Darth Vader has no pilot hits despite being a robot and not using half his body. I guess that just means we get to break his spine again. I hope he survives this fight crippled and butthurt. See if they have enough legos and super glue to piece his dumb rear end together one more time. If he's in no mood for trueborn bullshit, why isn't he using his robot arm? I actively hate him as a character (in-universe), so I kind of want to see him suffer more.

Oh, and a shame that it wasn't Star Commander Kaz that ended up missing the limbs. :v:

That is a loving lucky ASF pilot.

Likely plan this turn: Hold position, unload a shitload of missiles into the nearest Goshawk. I've got prime range on 1727, and 60 LRMs should make a pretty nice mark.

vv I was planning to, now that he's back in range again. This turn I've got pretty good shots with just the HE rounds though.

What you need to do is coordinate with the ostscout to get him TAGing stuff. I suggest the Goshawk next to the David.

Make sure in the future to remember that quad mechs like the David get a PSR bonus.

Bumper cars aside, good turn. Screamer still has perfect backshots on the Wolverine, which is now missing armor on 2/3 of it's rear torsos, urbie overkilled, and Vixen crippled by the loss of it's big gun.

Also Vandal totally neutered.
