Special Rules
Drifting: Vehicles may shift one column to the left or right during the movement phase without expending an MP to turn, provided the move does not cross through an enemy unit or terrain that would cost additional MP. See the example at the end of the update for details!
Half-Height Terrain: All terrain features rise to only half their normal height. Vehicles behind a height 1 hill may still attack and be attacked, but may only receive damage to their turrets. Vehicles without turrets are hidden as normal. Hills only cost 1 MP to climb rather than the additional 2. BattleMech and IndustrialMech units treat height 1 hexes as if they are clear terrain, height 2 as if they are height 1, etc.
Oases: Oases are surrounded by boggy soil that will trap ground vehicles and may attract native fauna.
Mirages: Heat shimmer can make water appear where there is none.
Redline the Engines: The Desert Hawg’s speed cannot be reduced by damage or critical hits.

A sand dune exploded as the armored prow of Chastity Ekran’s Bulldog tank burst through, scattering a herd of griffiks. The calf-sized marsupials groaned and scampered as Chastity lazily shot one from the deck chair perched precariously on the tank’s turret. The griffik moaned and fell, its goat-like horns ploughing a furrow in the soft, powdery sand. She sighted down the barrel of her hunting rifle and shot a second, and was just lining up for a third when Kenni popped the top hatch and nearly spilled her—parasol and all—off the back of her tank.

She kicked him in the face, sending her turret gunner slumping back into his chair. He’d be fine. Probably. And if not, she could take a leak off the side of her tank the next time they drove through town and hit at least three ‘experienced tank gunners.’ Jakeson, her radio operator, poked his head out of the open hatch next. He’d undoubtedly sent Kenni first to test her mood.

“Oy,” she shouted. “Y’fuckers spoiled my shot!”

“Sorry, Chas,” Jakeson didn’t sound it one bit. “Big score—big score! The Dunerunners are offering us a percentage if we’ll escort them to that BattleMech find the radio’s been yammering about.”

“Ershmin’s crew, huh?” She licked her wind-chapped lower lip, moistening it even though she knew it’d just make things worse in the long run. “How big a percentage?”

“Five percent,” Jakeson nodded. She glared at him, but he’d already done the math for her. “That’s a hundred-k if the `Mech’s worth two million. We just gotta get ‘em there first. Shouldn’t be too hard.”

She whistled. A hundred thousand c-bills for a milk-run? She could take her tank and get the hell out of the Aurigan Reach for that sum. Ershmin was a known miser, so there was bound to be a catch, but even if he tried to bilk her his salvaging scow couldn’t outrun her Bulldog. She considered for a few minutes, then nodded. “We on his short list?”

“Yeh, seem to be,” Jakeson nodded. “He’s prolly going to call in Vohrs, too. Assuming the old man’s not neck-deep in Sandwhale guts. Maybe some others—y’know Devil’s Due is gonna be hot for a score like this.”

“Fuckin’ boat people,” Chastity spat a wad of phlegm into Kenni’s hair. “gently caress it. Tell ‘em we’re in.”

I am joking, but only because infernos are loving terrifying for tanks and even an intentionally lovely copter like that is still fast enough to be a bastard to fight.

There still is, I dunno if we'll see Red_Mage and you're the first Alternate.

Why would you want there to not be bioweapons? We already recently had mad, petulant clanners using orbital bombardment on cities, telefragging, and nuclear mines. Bioweapons deserve some time to shine as well.

Honestly I expect the bio-weapons would be more of the kaiju variety than terminator viruses.

Engineered plagues are notoriously bad at doing what you want them to do, unless your goal is indiscriminate slaughter.
