Killing a `Mech without breaching its armor really should've been a humiliation objective, and since it just happened it is now. :psyduck:

Edit: I'm going to need more reinforcements.

Retroactively add it as an objective!

And yes, yes you are, cause between the PCs and the Glacier, there will be no survivors.

I lost six `Mechs this turn. I am now outnumbered.

Only two of those were lights (and one of those lights is very possibly the most statistically unlucky unit we've ever had in the thread)

Moreso than the guy who tried to stand, fell, exploded, fell through the ice, and exploded again?

The exploding part of that was pretty unlucky, but he was trying to stand on 8s or 9s wasn't he? Not unlucky to fall on those numbers.

I always thought that the weapon updates over the BT years were much superior to the defensive updates. And there are some great toys on the players side.

Or is this just a case of the dice being fickle?

Guess the only way the Widowmakers are living up to their names is if they all had a group marriage before the battle.

This is one really is fantastic.

I'd imagine it's both. Clan pilots in clan mechs are sensationally good at loving each other up, and having this many units on the field dramatically increases the level of violence as well. Throw in some hot dice on top and :rip:

One of the objectives is in fact destroying all but 1 crippled enemy.

Ikuta Glacier: Tactical Update 7

Chaya’s breath filled her ears with long, rhythmic blasts of white noise. She’d pulled on her cold-weather respirator after that near-crippling leg hit had fused her hip actuator, and double-checked to make sure her Ebon Jaguar’s automatic ejection was disabled. It seemed like the enemy Hellbringer pilot had decided they were going to pull her down with them—or perhaps the attack by the stray Rasalhague `Mech had incensed the pilot and spurred them into trying to go out in a blaze of glory. Either way, the weaponless `Mech advanced with a confident enough gait that Chaya was certain they intended to deliver a kick to the Ebon Jaguar’s squat body.

She could still maneuver of course, but doing so would put her leg at greater risk. She could stand being shot out of her machine, but not accomplishing the task the Nova Captain had set out for her would be humiliating. She still hoped she had a long career ahead of her, but if this was her last battle she hoped to go down fighting as the star’s former stoic, Nikolaj had. She took a long, slow breath, and lead Fire Moth’s speeding figure by a fraction of a degree. The Fire Moth could cover thirty meters during miniscule pause between the moment she squeezed the trigger and the instant her `Mech actually fired, but she’d never had an opportunity to engage one of the rare scout `Mechs before.

She breathed a near-silent sigh of relief as her shots dismantled the tiny `Mech, severing its arms and legs almost instantaneously and reducing its tumbling torso to an unrecognizable lump of twisted metal. The light `Mech rolled to a stop, upside-down and half buried in a mound snow as hard as cement. Its mechanical guts lay scattered and strewn across its tumbling path. It was almost like some twisted crèche child hand pulled it in two and tossed the top and bottom halves in two different directions—she doubted the Widowmakers would find enough working parts left over to salvage.

Special Rules
Necrosia Stimulants Once per game, BattleMechs and Elementals may inject themselves with Necrosia stimulants granting them heightened reaction times for three turns. While Necrosia stimulants are active, Mechwarriors gain a -1 bonus to gunnery due to their heightened reaction times but suffer a +1 penalty to piloting tests due to minor visual hallucinations. Elementals in Ironhold Armor gain a -1 bonus to gunnery with no penalties. All other Elementals instead gain a -2 bonus to Anti-Mech attacks with no penalties.
Icy Conditions Ice hexes are in play. At the bottom of the ravine, all ice hexes are treated as though they are elevation -6. It is possible to break through these ice hexes and fall into the liquid water below. If a `Mech does not extract itself from the water in two turns it will be frozen in place and immobilized (or destroyed if completely submerged).
-60 C All `Mechs cool 3 additional points each turn

House Rule
Heavy Vibro Claws deal +1 damage per claw per elemental on leg and swarm attacks rather than the standard ruling.

Primary Objectives
- Achieve 100% humiliation or more

Secondary Objectives
- Push or charge a Widowmaker unit into the ravine (+0%/10%)
- Kill Star Colonel Jolán Vickers (+10%/10%)
- Leave one crippled enemy alive (+0%/5%) (+5% if that unit is an enemy officer)

- Defeat 3 `Mechs with Elementals (+10%/10%)
- Drug Free: defeat 5 enemy `Mechs without the aid of Necrosia (+6%/10%)
- Battle High: defeat 5 enemy `Mechs with the aid of Necrosia (+10%/10%)
- Give the Hunchback IIC pilot an honorable death OR capture them honorably (+0%/10%)
- Score twice as many kills than the Glacier (10%/10%)
- - Players 15
- - Glacier 3

We'll start,
like many good things,
with a bear.

Did that Firemoth just have every single part EXCEPT its head blown off in one salvo?

Technically, it still has a tiny portion of its left torso left, and its right arm is intact, though no longer connected to the rest of it.

But yes, that fire Moth got more or less disintegrated in a single volley.

Reading its demise gave me the mental image of Mr. Potato Head popping apart in the Toy Story movies.

I don't know why Light 'Mech was more statistically unlucky. The Kit Fox who got double tapped in the chest by pulse lasers that failed to penetrate, and got a double TAC on its gyro, or the Fire Moth that got turned into vapor.

I don't recall if it's been mentioned, can we pick up our elementals?

It's like the battletech toys except every destruction event simultaneously. Glorious.

The enemy of my enemy is my enemy.
Pretty nice turn. And now I can stop giving Poptart's back shots because my butt plate's hanging out

The Mad Dog D looks to be in a prime position to shoot the southern flank coming up to help finish off things.

Is there any elevation limit to how high/low mechs can shoot if they have line of sight?

Also what's the rules for moving carefully IE on ice?

Moving carefully on ice is the default and costs you an extra MP.

Don't move recklessly or turn on ice unless you want to feel the wrath of the glacier.

Edit: Centurium, the Summoner is offering you his butt and the last time he offered someone his butt, I shot his rear armour off. Feel like filling that hole of his with some delicious HE?

If you move normally on ice, it just costs 1 extra MP, and doesn't trigger a pilot test unless you turn. If you try and turn on ice, then, well, the glacier probably claims another victim.

Man, I also feel bad for that Hunchback IIC. It finally got back to the fight, then it gets destroyed by a passing fighter before hitting with a single one of its weapons.

I should have left the Nova G at home and brought a second group of Wraiths, because they're doing the bulk of the damage on my end.

Goddamn, that round, so much mech destruction.

Lol, so is that Kit Fox the perfect salvage situation, aside from say a pilot just dying from machine gun hits?

I'm going to chance the bad hip since it's only a +2 now that my drugs have worn off. Moving around to 1503 and trying to blap the Arctic Cheetah.

If you don't want to chance the hip, you could just back up to 1504.
