Unless the plan is "depress Poptarts into switching to Alpha Strike" I don't see that being a good idea.

Edit: My wish for an Alpha Strike thread is a rags-to-riches mercenary campaign, a bit like the Demon Hawks campaign but starting from scratch rather than en medias res. I'll get there, I just don't want to leave too many plot threads here if I can tie them up.

Operation: Deserved Requital: Tactical Update 5

“Nice shot, Foerstner,” Hauptmann Von Tonder’s voice was crisp and clear. His Archer’s communication system was first rate even if the pilot inside was still a little wet behind the ears.

“Luck,” was Mu’tasim Foerstner’s taciturn reply. A shot from his right arm large laser had pierced one of the enemy Wyvern’s CASE vents and set off a chain reaction in one of the ammo bins. From the sound of the boom Mu’tasim thought he must’ve hit the LRM ammo, he didn’t hear the telltale firecracker popping of machine gun ammo. The enemy `mech tottered, its pilot clearly stunned by the detonation. It went down on one knee, then fell face-first to the rocky earth.

A secondary explosion ruptured the case vents on the opposite side, sending the Wyvern’s other arm skittering across the soil like a snake fleeing from a toppling man. A pillar of smoke rose from the Wyvern’s form. Its heart still pulsed on thermals—undamaged in spite of the tandem blasts, but the machine lay still, its pilot undoubtedly knocked unconscious in the fall or even killed.

“Luck, or the Grace of God” Uberto Hideki corrected dryly. “Your guy’s all right in my book, Mu’tasim. Keep making shots like that and you’ll make a believer of me. I’ll put a statue of Mohammad on my ancestral kami shrine.”

“One,” Mu’tasim’s resolve cracked. “my family haven’t been practicing Muslims for three hundred years. Two, I’m reasonably certain that would be sacrilege. Three, you’re Catholic, why the hell do you have a kami shrine?”

“Old habits,” Uberto laughed. “Port Moseby changed hands enough times during the old days that it was safer to keep the saints in a Shinto shrine next to Buddha and Amaterasu. Made the ISF look the other way as long as we were paying lip service to the Coordinator. That’s why we’ve gotta take it back—who the hell knows what the Clans practice? I don’t want to get home just to find out my sister’s had to add the archtraitor or the Cameron Star to the wall.”

Sorry my contingency orders weren't very good Poptarts I'll remember to be much more clear on orders from now, so they will either be shoot or don't shoot. Sorry for any hassle caused.

As for this turn I need to cool off so I am thinking of walking to 1833 and firing the auocannon 20 and the SRMs only at the Kingfisher. I think that should eb able to do some damage and hopefully let me cool off.

Anyone see any issue with the above orders?

Nah it's probably not that.

The King Cobra has the Distracting quirk, which in PTN's campaign means any attempt to make it your contingency target makes it your primary target instead. You may have missed the somewhat short discussion we had about it last page.

S'all good then, and yeah. One of the responsibilities you have as a player is to manage your own heat math, which is not terrible considering all the bookkeeping PTN does.

You could back up 3 hexes and keep plugging at the Kingfisher. That will put you inside it's minimum gauss rifle range, too, which it might have wanted to use now that it's taken an engine hit.

For northern lance, that Battle Cobra A only has a +2 move mod, and it is a nasty pulse and streak boat about to get in your faces. Everyone should be able to get good shots on it too.

You know, we seem to have a running theme going on of Unlucky Bastards who end up getting absolutely shat on because happened. There was that one Kit Fox pilot from Auxilia who nearly killed himself trying to stand up, the David from Air Raid who MASC'd himself so hard his legs popped off like a cheap action figure, Vickers from the Glacier who fell into a crevasse before the fight even started (As well as the one dude to fell over, exploded, fell through the ice, and exploded again), and now this poor bugger.

Amusing, every single one of these cursed souls was a Clanner. Karma does not like these guys.

Contrary to anything resembling sense, most Christian religions folded back into the Catholic church during the Terran Hegemony days to make the setting feel more medieval.

The church has absolutely no power in the setting and the only major schism happened during the siege of Terra when the bishop of New Avalon declared himself space pope when communications with the actual Vatican was lost.

The only stated difference between New Avalon Catholics and Orthodox Catholics is that New Avalon Catholics permit women to be priests.

Really the setting is extremely--I don't want to say athiestic (not even the Clans are entirely free from religion)--but religion plays very little part aside from House Kurita being complete assholes and openly murdering anyone who doesn't practice their state-mandated form of Shinto.
