Currently considering a jump to 2612 in anticipation of the Timber Wolf's next move.

Would DSI or the BANDERSNATCH be willing to take 2210 to keep that Clanner from backing up north?

This is going to be such a close/good fight to the end here!

I think Goons have it if they can avoid losing anyone else to the Timberwolf, but even a couple mechs going down will dramatically tilt the odds.

I am always willing to advance to melee range with our hated foe. He can still Kool-Aid through the building (only a Med construction), but that entails a certain amount of risk

Nine, he lost one when the torso was destroyed. I kept rolling 10s and 11s on the missile table.

On the plus side, that means Grier probably won't be doing the same thing.

Actually, it is likely hilarious if PTN has to write Grier's thoughts if he somehow beat gooncompany.

Ugh, that's still 180 damage. Basically cost our forces most of the advantage they accumulated in the first half. He did good.

I'd say that's not how statistics work, but you do use physical dice... Their dark magic is much preferable to atmospheric noise RNGs or whatever.

Grier is probably going to throw in an extra handicap if he thinks he's winning, while putting on as grand a show as possible to his underlings.

There were a lot of other dice in between each shot, I'd say I'm still probably rolling statistically average, it just doesn't look that way when one 'Mech gets extremely lucky.

... I rolled all the low numbers when the Hunchback was getting its arm blown off by falling debris.

I was really wondering whether the players would have enough damage to drop the building, I cheered when it happened (it was closer than people probably realize)

... And then the Hunchback survived it, and I had to write something.

Hunchback IIC's manufacturer is "Various," there's no reason one of those couldn't be Toyota.

RIP Hunchback IIC and Bronislaw Cobb, I guess he went out as fitting as a Clanner would want to, managing to empty his bins and do a ton of damage with them, taking out an enemy (even if it was only a light, albeit a commander as well, if he knew that) in his last moments, amongst other damage done to the enemy.

Now if that Timber Wolf wasn't as annoying to pin down.

As the Bandersnatch is already taking 2210, I'll move to provide fire and try to lock off any escape routes through the building.

Moving to 1912, which should cover most LOS moves if it decides to run through buildings. Hopefully it'll be targetable. Not exactly moving a ton, but my movement mod is the least of my concerns right now.

With the Hunchback down, our teammates in the south don't have anyone to shoot this turn.

Perhaps a jump to the HD6 building on the right side of the map and spotting for the BANDERSNATCH and Charger's LRMs would work?

E: My orders are in - jumping to 2411 if the Spider jumps out, to keep the Timber Wolf hemmed in, otherwise jumping to 2612.

That Clanner's probably going to put me down this turn, so I hope we can get some good damage in before this mech gets wrecked. This is probably the best way for this chinpira to go out anyway. :black101:

BANDERSNATCH

I hope you guys are proud of me, I worked against like 6 different impulses to throw in the word "Contingency". Putting my back to the H-grade building, in the event the Timberwolf busts through the one in the south to get out of LOS, it'll at least keep him in my firing arcs. Exposes my left side to some danger, but hoping I'm a less tempting target this round

MOVEMENT:
Rotate one hex facing to face Hex 2210 (1mp)
Walk forward one hex to Hex 2210 (1mp)
Rotate two hex facings to face Hex 2211 (2mp)

SHOOTING:
If the Timber Wolf D is within LOS, then fire
4 ML
2 LBX loaded with Cluster ammo
If the Timber Wolf D is beyond minimum range and within LOS (or another player has Spotted it), then fire 3 LRMs at it

PHYSICAL:
If the Timber Wolf D ends its turn adjacent to me, kick it

And TACs, so on average one of the two out of every 18 damage groupings.

Sandpapering someone to death is fun, and surprisingly not too ineffective in Battletech. The more LB-Xes you got, and the bigger and more explosive the enemy the less inefficient the restriction is (and in some edge cases it's superior).

An LBx dedicated heavy or assault restricted to cluster shots might be able to knock out another assault's pilot or set off their ammo in a few rounds with a bit of luck.

Other than critseeking it could use it's lower bell curve of luck in regular damage distribution to sandpaper the backs of enemies and finishing off wounded pilots with fairly high odds.

Lt. Van Dijk cringed and instinctively raised the Bandersnatch’s arms to shield his cockpit as the Wolf Spider variant exploded. Just beyond it, visible even through the smoke, chinpira Watanabe’s venerable Quickdraw was burning like a torch. A column of fire rose half a hundred meters in the air as its infernos detonated. A half-ton of jellied oxidizers slowly flowed and spread over the ferrocrete—it was the worst sort of disaster for a ‘Mechwarrior, even a quick ejection was almost certain to roast a pilot alive as convection currents were likely to pull a parachute back towards the blaze.

Geoffrey wasn’t even sure the young pilot had punched out. The Wolf Spider’s own ammunition explosion had kicked up too much smoke, by the time that had cleared flames had already engulfed the Quickdraw’s bulbous head. He’d never met Watanabe face to face but criminal or no the Yak had fought hard in a machine Geoffrey would have been hesitant to ever pit against Clan forces. Almost automatically, he offered the Quickdraw’s pyre a solemn salute. Just in case.

Geoffrey’s radio crackled as the Clan lookouts trained a communication laser on his machine. He expected surprise, disdain, or that the Clan commander might issue some grandiose proclamation. Whether this moment would prove to be historically significant or not hardly mattered, he was fighting for his life. Perhaps that was of no real significance to the Clanners, but to him it mattered.

He wasn’t sure whether to be frightened or relieved when the enemy commander said simply, “Come.”
