This is what I live for. This is the purpose of living, for those who have no life.
Well, I'll be submitting when I get home from work tonight. Looks like I'm on "hold the line" duty to let the others have time to mess things up on top.

Update: Orders in. I hope that mech feels the hurt this turn.

All of the orders are in on time. I'm finally free of my eternal burden, and an entire world of opportunities is open to me. I can take a cooking class, or go back and finally figure out Lost.

Or I can worry about the upcoming turn... :ohdear:

Orders in well in advance. I hope not too many people are following me in my folly to keep G company off the big guns' backs.

You're playing Battletech, but they're playing "There's no way PTN can write fluff for this stupid poo poo."

It's like 11-dimensional chess, but without the tribbles.

X4, the Po. I hosed up on hex counts last turn and basically got him killed. Losing a couple of MRM-10s isn't the end of the world, but it still sucks to lose him because I forgot to count a dead mech as rough terrain.

The screams of Ethan Parkinson as his Po’s ammo cooked off beneath him still echoed in the comms. Another name for King Enma’s book of the dead. Things were going wrong and it didn’t take a genius to spot it, which was probably why it shook Tanta so thoroughly. He wasn’t used to noticing when things went wrong.

A dozen meters to his side, Alimah leveled her Vindicator’s long-barreled Smasher PPC at the distant lance of Grasshoppers. The weapon’s charging coils glowing eerily blue with Cherenkov radiation as unfathomable energies were vented out a rent in the side of the weapon Alimah couldn’t see. Tanta’s lips parted to shout a warning even as the weapon misfired, the coils fusing the weapon into a solid mass of half-molten ceramet and structural titanium.

Conscious of the Vindicator’s sudden weakness, the Grasshoppers’ shifted almost imperceptibly as each sought a more dangerous target. With only a vague feeling of remorse, Tanta slapped the emergency eject as a stream of charged particles cored through his Blackjack’s weakened chest. The computer didn’t even have time to voice a warning as his command couch rocketed up and away from the ruined husk of his BattleMech.

The emergency communicator in his neurohelmet crackled.

“Neg, Star Captain,” Steve’s calm voice said. “The score is not even. We have the advantage by one.”

Goddamnit, every time I see PPCs described in battletech fluff I immediately ignore the description of the scene and my brain shouts MAN MADE LIGHTENING. Curse you stackpole!

I have confidence in goonlance, assuming theres no more turns of failed communication/pointless damage wasted they can get to the dropships and escape. The emphasis is on 'HOLD OFF' the 1st Kestrals rather than defeating them. Things are alright with what they have left.

Aww, I liked Ethan. He's the one who elbow-dropped the Annihilator, no?

The dice have been uncharacteristically favorable on this mission, adding a TAC-kill to last turns headcap. However, will all those Grasshoppers getting into medium laser/punching range, next turn might be a brutal.

That cluster of Grasshoppers might make a nice opportunity for Talyn to put her special ability to good use.

He is still almost definitely not a spy

They're rear-mounted. Someone pointed out last turn that I've been loving that up for a while.

We've still got 21 more enemy mechs to take out. Thats worrying.

G4 is still on the count but has been disarmed and is withdrawing, so it's really a much more manageable 20 :eng101:

Aren't the enemies too close in to escape easily?

A good turn overall, good luck with a solid heavy taken out not quite balanced out by the bad luck of two weakened mechs dying at once, the Atlas's leg is looking thin, the Mad Dog could still get cored or lose a leg, and the Vindicator and Merlin could lose an arm and the Moongoose a torso, but the rest of the locations are quite solid.
Does the Banshee store its AC ammo in it's right torso?

Oh right, there's 13 mechs left, not 15... So it's not 15 but 13 solid mechs left against 16 weaker mechs...
Still, the next loss is likely two or more rounds away unless the Mad Dog gets unlucky or someone else really unlucky.

I'm looking for a flock of urbanmechs.

Didn't four leave the field? I thought that's why the one kill count objective is now only 9-10/36. Not that 17 'mechs aren't still worrying enough.

It's 16 with G4 leaving the field disarmed (well, he does have at least 1 arm I remember wasn't shot off).
If the battle continues with the 13 against the 16 without any interference I think there'll be about 3-8 survivors against the four bosses.

There are 20-30 medium lasers surrounding a Mad Dog with an open CT and two engine hits. He would have to get absurdly lucky to survive the turn, especially since it's also too crippled to work up a movement modifier. The rest of them can probably last a big longer, although a few of them are in danger of losing significant portions of their armament (specifically, Hastur's arm). The Atlas's leg I honestly wouldn't worry about much; he's currently in a target rich environment and isn't relying on a movement modifier to keep himself alive. Frankly, he's so damned durable that it's not really a bad thing for us if Kestrels decide to focus on him.
