Jesus christ this thread got huge before I got here. As a megamek vet I would like to sign up to be a mechwarrior since given how many are ahead of me I figure there's a good bet we'll be megamekkin' by the time I get the nod. And as a staunch Davionist who likes cool poo poo voting Kell Hounds

With that many jumpjets and that little armor let's hope for mountains or at least thick forest. I love playing hit and run with lights and mediums. When my turn comes around I have SA PMs PoptartsNinja atelier morgan fucked around with this message at 20:03 on Jan 22, 2011 |

A Dragon would hardly be insurmountable provided the terrain to gangbang it at close range. Or just shoot it with the Griffin, really. PPC's are the weapon of the gods. But really, AC/5s and LRMs both have minimum ranges and the Medium Lasers that make up the bulk of the Lance's firepower don't, so walk right up in its face and it has all of two medium lasers, which it can't bring to bear on a single target because one is an rear end laser. Bonus points if you do so from 1 height level up and kick its stupid head off atelier morgan fucked around with this message at 20:29 on Jan 22, 2011 |

They compare very well to US army formations actually, which only have anything that would qualify as a battletech heavy weapon at the platoon level. iirc a standard 42 man infantry platoon will have one weapons squad with 2 machineguns and 2 antitank weapons. You can fit a lot more than 2 MGs and an SRM2 in that many battletech infantry atelier morgan fucked around with this message at 20:36 on May 24, 2011 |

The reason the Whitworth did not shoot last turn was that it is slow and could not shoot at C2 and getting focus fired by C1 and C3 by going it alone then would have precluded joining in on the GRAND MELEE now (physical attack clanners everyday )

Go to the desert at night and line a hole with aluminum foil, and you can make waterbottles explode by radiating heat into a cold sky. That relies on having air to carry the heat away (convection) not actually radiation of heat. In fact a water bottle is an absolutely terrible radiator. Radiation is a pretty strict and easy to calculate value for any given amount of energy and given radiator so we should just assume that mech heatsinks, like mech armor, are made of mst3kium.
