What is the hive mind consensus on the best garage/shop light? I finally have a garage and now I want to start outfitting it.

Handheld LED, corded, or rechargeable cordless

I grew up using this kind that would break the filament in the bulb every time you bumped it against something.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Tasco-35-ft-16-3-SJTW-Metal-Guard-Worklight-Retractable-Cord-Reel-Yellow-and-Black-07-00253/203534215

For additional lighting, I am thinking of replacing the existing bare bulbs with these.

https://www.costco.com/Feit-4-ft.-Linkable-LED-Utility-Motion-Sensor-Shop-Lights%2C-2-pack-.product.100415188.html

or for a couple bucks more these

https://www.costco.com/Feit-4'-Linkable-LED-Shop-Light-2-pack.product.100410429.html

which seem to get better reviews.

Want a lift to do car work but the garage isn't tall enough for a two post.

Thoughts on this?

E. Never mind I just realized that the max height is 21 inches.

Just picked up the ridgid $199 deal for 3 tools and two 4.0 batteries. Hammer Drill, impact driver, and 1/2 impact wrench. I’m stoked to try out the impact wrench. Box says it is rated at 450ft lbs which will be about 448 ft lbs more than my corded HF impact.

What is the best electric pressure washer? Is there one? Would be using it for general purpose stuff: driveway, patio, deck, etc.

I’m trying to avoid having another small gas engine to maintain but not sure if any electric has the balls to do these jobs and not take 10x the time.

I bought this one and I think I’m going to return it as it feels anemic and slow.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-2-000-PSI-1-2-GPM-Electric-Pressure-Washer-RY141900/205566055

Considering this one Costco has.

https://www.costco.com/Powerstroke-3100PSI-Yamaha-Gas-Pressure-Washer-with-14%94-Surface-Cleaner-and-Turbo-Nozzle.product.100485851.html

But I’d rather not spend almost 2x the price if I don’t need to.

My father in law has a Honda one that I’ve borrowed several times and it’s constantly having carb problems.

I bought the same one at Costco last year for $150 on sale and it's been amazing. No problems with it at all.

Wonder how long I’ll need to wait for it to go on sale. At $150 that’s a no brainer.

I can take care of small engines just fine but I'm totally loving my battery tools that can do the same job with less fuss. I have already swapped out his carb for a new one and gave him a lecture on leaving fuel in it.

Any recommendations for budget router bits and are 1/2" preferable?

I also picked this up along with the 10" sliding miter saw for $149. I haven't used either one yet.

E: I also picked up a 7 1/4 metabo circ saw that was on sale for $69.

I’ve had a HF plug in impact wrench for a couple years. I realized just how pathetic it was after I got a ridgid 1/2 cordless. Night and day. I’ll probably just donate the old one to goodwill to free up its space in the tool box.

That’s officially my last gas tool, gone

I did this same thing two years ago with a similar kobalt 80v mower. I think I paid around $200 bucks. One of the batteries wouldnt charge after I opened the box so the store upgraded me to a battery that cost almost as much as the what I paid for everything.

I finally cleaned out my shed yesterday and I put my two 50 year old lawn boys at the end of the driveway with a FREE sign on them. Hopefully they are gone this morning.

Goooood riddance.

If you need chisels and sharpening stuff you should get the Amazon Basics wood chisel set. It comes with a sharpening stone and guide, I ended up getting this because it was cheaper than just buying a sharpening jig on its own:

Are these a good value? I’m considering getting a set to do basic joinery but I know nothing about chisels.

You're welcome. As with every tool deal there is the always the question of which tools are included and better batteries. This is a low financial bar to entry to a brand that will serve most DIYers just fine and they make a billion different tools. The cordless hot glue gun keeps attracting me for some reason for example.

Picked up a Ridgid octane cordless trim router at DTO for $55 yesterday.

Is Ridgid as a brand dying? The offerings since the DTO kerfuffle have been abysmal and I’m knee deep in Orange at my house. I am a mid level wood and auto tool user so the cost/quality value appealed to me.
