There is an idea of a Yuns, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.
As of next week, our am no gi class is off limits to visitors. Too many transient visitors who don't care about infections or safety. So only regulars and certain pre-vetted visitors will be allowed.

Although severe, I think it's a good idea to ensure the safety of the members of the club.

Is it weird to ask if a gym will do a per session rate? I trained for about a few months at the beginning of the year, but left my current gym because of a few reasons (they altered my contract after I signed it without any notification which locked me into a year's responsibility with a hefty fee to break it, instructor more concerned with highlighting talent than building up lower rungs, dirty mats, instructor actually encouraged a guy I accidentally injured to 'get me back', and other fun stuff). I'm dealing with some injuries, but I do miss some of the training. I doubt that I will want to go more than once a week, so I don't want to pay over a hundred a month and be locked into another shady contract. I'll be checking out other gyms because that first one was not a great experience, but didn't know if that was a common thing or if all gyms require memberships.

Plenty of gyms have day rates, and it certainly wouldn't be inappropriate to ask about it.

Jizz Fighter has quit BJJ. He showed up to his last practice drunk and vomited on the mat as he only had chicken fingers and whiskey to eat because he won Smash Weeklies. He then had a fit about not being allowed to roll, made a scene with him trying to take off his gi top and walked away from the club.

He now is liking Tweets from porn stars and bragging to the Smash community that he was too good for BJJ to handle him.

All I can say, good riddance. He was so creepy he made even higher female belts feel uncomfortable when rolling.

I can't imagine someone showing up drunk and vomiting on the mats. BJJ is generally a chill martial art but that is just so profoundly disrespectful on every level that I can't even visualize it.

Like, how is it someone doesn't just punch this guy in the throat and throw him on the curb? It's incredible that this person can even exist.

I would love to do a per session rate at 10p and I have asked this a few times at different 10P gyms if they would let me do this and they all said no :( and so I result to going to their open mat which is free. Still thinking about doing some private lessons there though since you dont need to be a member.

It would be officially closed but John always runs afternoon classes on days we are closed anyway. Those classes would not be open to visitors. But if you want to grab a meal or drink with me in midtown, I'll probably be around.

Is that normal for open mats?

I'm still very new to BJJ, and only train at my gym (or it's affiliates). I thought open mat just meant that there was no instructor telling you exactly what to do and you could drill whatever you wanted.

Do open mats also mean that visitors from other gyms can drill/roll too?

10p has their open mat free on Sundays at various times depending on the location and its open to all affiliations. I dont think all open mats are run this way though, at least not at my gym.
