Just finished Orcs Must Die on War Mage. 5-skulled every level because I couldn't stand not to. Fun little game, will probably come back to it for the DLC campaign, though probably not the higher difficulties.

I had a absolute blast with that game and still come back to replay levels fairly often. Watching wave after wave of orcs and orgres get launched into lava and acid baths will never get old.

Today I played most of the way through Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on Realistic mode. I had a good time until I got to a level near the end where you're alone (the game's "gimmick" is that you command two other guys that draw fire and help you kill enemies; you can also have them breach doors). You die from a few hits in realistic mode and with nobody to help or draw enemy fire, welp. Really, really loving stupid idea for a level; they do it early in the first one as well but I don't recall getting nearly as swarmed by enemies.

The checkpoint system is an abomination, too. Really soured the game for me, I liked the first one a lot and thought the unlock system in this one was kind of neat. I'll probably just uninstall it and mark it 'beaten,' I'm not far from the end and have nothing invested in the plot.

Content: Earned all the achievements in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Bought it on release, played through several times and finally used a guide to round out the last few achievements. Thoroughly enjoyed it and feel the retail price was totally worth it.

Ugh, I need to visit this thread for encouragement more often. After spending some $110 in the summer sale I told myself I wouldn't buy anything until I beat a bunch of those games. Since then I've caved in and purchased:

Orcs Must Die! 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Renegade Ops
Rome: Total War
Torchlight 2

The only thing I think I've actually beaten since summer is Renegade Ops, which was fun as hell. I've already sunk 45 hours into XCOM and don't see myself putting that one in the 'beaten' category until I win on classic mode, which is kicking my rear end every time I try it.

BEAT: Alan Wake DLC Episodes & American Nightmare
So the DLC is two episodes which give, I suppose, 'proper closure' to the game's story and aim to set up the sequel in a more standard manner, and elaborates on the "How's Annie?" nature of the original game's ending. What they essentially boil down to is re-using assets (and often previous levels wholesale) while injecting more story into them. I enjoyed the story enough to play through them, and they at least change things up in "The Writer" and give the assets the old Remedy twist when the main character's going insane, and managed to create some interesting battle areas. You're mostly playing these for the story and character development, though, if that stuff jived with you from the original game.

poo poo, thanks for posting this. I beat Alan Wake earlier today and had no idea the dlc episodes were available after beating the game. I got dumped back at the title screen after the credits rolled and since there was no mention of unlocking any bonus content, I figured that was it.

Just beat Alan Wake's American Nightmare. Went in not expecting much but I ended up really enjoying it, probably because of the goofy narration and live-action cutscenes. It's basically a playable episode of Night Springs from the original game. The controls are also much, much better in this.

Here's hoping we get more Alan Wake sometime in the future.

Beat Bad Rats earlier today. That was certainly, uh, something. Had a couple levels totally bug out that required restarts.

Whoop, double posting just to say that Trials Evolution Gold is a loving great game and so much improved over Trials 2 it's insane. The level editor is beyond fantastic, the graphics are top notch, the level design in inventive and solid and then there's of course the best part: :v:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhFQm6i0TDc

I'm saying I "beat" it by getting the Trials Trophy but there are still so many more Hard and Extreme and user tracks to play. Also I really hope the PC version gets the awesome DLC that the 360 release received.

I loved Trials when I owned a 360 and I love this version even more. It's a shame that it uses uplay so steam buddies can't easily compare scores, but it's otherwise awesome.

Also posting to say that I beat Bioshock Infinite after buying it during the summer sale. I agree with the sentiment that combat drags on a bit near the end, but I enjoyed the plot as well as liking both Booker and Elizabeth. I do have a terrible mancrush on Troy Baker though, so that probably swayed my opinion. Dunno if it's spoiler material or not, but I thought the anachronistic music popups and old-time renditions were really loving cool.

It's also one of the best looking games I've ever played, and it runs shockingly well on my aging system. Even if you don't dig the gameplay that much, there's a shitload of scenery porn.

We can talk about non-steam stuff in here too right?

Beat: Yakuza 0

This was my first Yakuza game and I loved it. Went from a very serious 15 minute story cutscene to a side mission that involved breaking up a used schoolgirl undergarment sales ring. It's weird, charming and often funny as hell.

I also lost a ton of hours to Cabaret Club Czar, holy poo poo it's fun.

BEAT: Monster Hunter World

Uh, using the word 'beat' lightly here since I technically saw the credits and unlocked what I've heard is a shitload of postgame content. This sucked me in REALLY loving hard since pc release and ate a ton of my free time. I've clocked about 90 hours so far, since joining SOSes and clobbering giant monsters in such a blast. I've never really enjoyed any hunting games in the past but absolutely loved this. This was my first MonHun game and holy poo poo, the turf wars where monsters beat each other up are super cool. Probably gonna lose countless more hours to this though, since I don't feel nearly done :negative:

Not the best port, but it runs fine on my desktop and they've (at least for me) sorted out the multiplayer connection issues.

Finished: Disco Elysuim

Felt like a crazy fever dream throughout the entire game. All the bizarre dialogue options, all the weird poo poo that your different brain/(skill?) compartments spout at at you, pretty much everything about this was amazing, aside from the 20ish typos I noticed.

Also loving loved how the guy you play as is into sad depressing rock, as a huge fan of The Smiths/Joy Division/The Cure

Also (ENDING SPOILER HERE) got the super rare Cuno cheevo, I guess 1.6% of players liked this little poo poo enough to save him from this post-communist helllscape. Hated him early on but he was great in the last act

loving rad game overall, looking forward to playing it again in a year
