Here are my stupid bets - *(9303) Benson "Smooth" Henderson -130 Aug 31/13@09:30p Competitor: (9302) Anthony "Showtime" Pettis Web US$ 5.00 US$ 3.85 Going to be a good fight but I see Benson doing some layin' in the near future. *(9501) Ben Rothwell +110 Aug 31/13@08:00p Competitor: (9500) Brandon Vera Web US$ 5.00 US$ 5.50 Never, never, never stop underestimating how bad Vera is capable of being. *(9301) Frank Mir +155 Aug 31/13@09:00p Competitor: (9300) Josh "The Warmaster" Barnett Web US$ 5.00 US$ 7.75 Frank Mir is a lot better than he gets credit for AND faced actual competition with some success in the past five years. *(9305) Clay "The Carpenter" Guida +325 Aug 31/13@08:30p Competitor: (9304) Chad "Money" Mendes My stupidity bet of the evening. Guida should lose but has a great ability to herk jerk Jardine himself into some close decisions, so that's a thing. I parlayed them all for a buck as well because gently caress it.

Okami as a two to one underdog, worth a gamble?

I've known about Souza forever but have about a combined thirty seconds of actual memory in my head for judging him. My gut said Okami shouldn't be that big of an underdog.

Boetsch threw the loving kitchen sink at Okami in the form of uppercuts. It would have startled anyone.

caiman posted:Makes sense. So on average how common are upsets (I'm new to MMA too)? I would think if they didn't happen more than about every 1 in 5 fights, then a favorite-betting strategy would still be mildly profitable. But maybe they're more common than that? Let my misadventures be an example. I've recently bet on Anderson Silva, Machida, and Benson Henderson. But I also bet on Anthony Perosh and Rothwell. Apparently the stupider a pick the better I do.

My NFL betting supports my MMA idiocy betting. I view MMA betting as more entertainment and rarely put more than $5 on a fighter. (Except for $20 on A. Silva, Machida, and Benson ARGH!)

My bored bets that I placed for entertainment tonight. I bet against the Japanese guy on the principle that he is Japanese. Now I found out he's fighting a loving Schulman guy. Whatever. Seems legit. Burkman because he paid me against Fitch and I hate Lombard with a passion. Cerrone because I think it's a toss up and want him to win. Cormier for good luck. These are four lock losses. Mark my words.

Typically I'm very reluctant to bet at all (I'm a tonne of fun at casinos) but since I'm watching the show live at a bar with some mates I figured I'd spread half the aussie cost of PPV access (which is what I usually wind up paying for watching shows live) over Belfort taking the first three rounds. Gambling isn't for you.
