Yeah, that's probably far deeper than the original writer intended, especially as the game makes it blatant that there really are right or wrong choices.

But that's the norm for early jrpgs, older FF fans have the same imagination-gone-farther-than-the-plot in FF4-6, too.

Well, that and the female characters constantly get lingerie as armor since the early Dragon Quests. Specifically playboy bunny-like, especially at the casinos. The best part is how ALL of the main heroes are exactly the same, wielding the usual one-handed sword and Gohan hair. You could probably swap the colors of their clothes and really confuse people at first glance on which game they're the hero of.

No big, this happens sometimes, right? Well now, the game won't play for more than 15 minutes without freezing and erasing the data.

I'll probably start a good ol' fashioned run on DQIII for the time being. I'm thinking that I'll go with Hero, Thief, Cleric, and Jester. Any objections?

Gonna have some tough times with the early battles, for sure, but it'll be a fun slog.

I've seen that cartridge glitch before...a buddy of mine and I went to the comp sci lab and opened it up and it's actually fixable. I'm not the expert but it's something to do with how a specific power strip is really flimsy but can be stretched to get the game going again for a while.

About my DQIII party: The cleric and jester are of course going to become sages, because it just isn't a good old-fashioned run of the game if you don't end up with some sages. Should I class change the thief at all or just leave her to do her thing?

I don't want to give you false hope about the cartridge...I think my buddy got lucky and just soldered something convenient. If the little internal battery's going, it's gonna go eventually.

As for the DQ3 thing, hey, it's your game, haha, just that early battles will obviously be all physical and that will be hard until the thief learns useful skills.

DQ9 was also hilarious in that it was clearly designed to be a quasi-MMO with you and 3 friends playing.

The story even flat out says this since only the main hero actually matters; the three generics are deliberately not acknowledged in all the plot points (i.e. being unable to strike a superior angel).

DQ was made a billion years ago by a Japanese programmer who saw Ultima and Wizardry and copied what he liked from each.
