Mr. Hariri, a former prime minister of Lebanon, was assassinated in 2005. His son, Saad Hariri, took over Saudi Oger and was Lebanon’s prime minister for 14 months before he was ousted last year. The two younger men are known to be close, said Mr. AbuKhalil and Mr. Henderson.

I don't think the ![]() Though according to someone from that twitter thread, MBS had no reason to want to get rid of Mansour. https://twitter.com/sunrise121212/status/927324959956979713

I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories as a rule. Proper investigations and evidence are required. That being said, its been a busy loving weekend in Saudi Arabia. 1) MBS arrests a bunch of super rich and powerful people 2) Hariri out of nowhere resigns while visiting KSA 3) Ballistic missile is shot near the capital 4) Some more rich and powerful people wind up dead from an aircraft going down Its conceivable that none of these are connected, and likely that not all of them are. But holy poo poo is it going to be interesting to look into.

I remember a blogger (writing in English) in Venezuela a year or two ago said that state intelligence monitoring didn't know/care about non-Spanish language posts, so he said he was safe.

Seems to be several protests today against SDF conscription practices. I have a feeling this forced conscription business is gonna come back and bite them in the rear end if they end up fighting SAA forces. A lot of the initial "training" seems to be more ideological than practical, and I suspect that educating conscripts on the benefits of a free society probably rings kind of hollow when you're not actually free to choose whether or not to serve. https://twitter.com/ornekali/status/927464223944466433 "Al Mayadeen reporter @khalediskef says SDF / YPG arrested many locals in#Manbij after the massive protest against compulsory conscription" https://twitter.com/soundandpic/status/927478057530740736 "SDF arrested many civilians in alMansorah town for Conscription" https://twitter.com/24Raqqa/status/927539209887502336 "Fighters of SDF warned civilians in Raqqa about demonstrating against them like Manbij"
