Live everything just kind of sounds like a blur and they're all old and they just stand around on stage. Might've been cool to see them a decade ago.

Cool, it's not just me then. I kind of appreciate that they got enough self awareness and irony to poke a bit of fun at the genre.

To be honest this is also why I love Spark! and Wulfband. I'm a massive fan of old-school EBM but after a while the super serious straight faced nature of some of it gets too much and you want some self - awareness and maybe a few little twists on the genre.

I pretty much forgot about Mortiis but I guess he's got a recent-ish album and what I've heard of it is pretty good!

I saw him touring with PIG recently with a friend who's well into Mortiis, who loved it, I on the other hand found it quite hard to get over the disappointment that he hadn't dressed as a goblin.

The Taurus didn't offer much for drivers craving the sport sedan experience. That changed with the 1989 debut of the Ford Taurus SHO (for Super High Output), a Q-ship of the finest order that offered up a high-revving Yamaha-designed V-6 engine and a tight sport suspension.

Now, I like that. If you add diva vocals then I'm listening.

I dunno, it feels like a lot of second-era KMFDM is plastic pop music that's trying to act more profound than it is? The first-generation KMFDM stuff was usually pretty ironic and self-aware. I haven't gotten that with most of the second-generation stuff, but then occasionally they come up with these fun gay-club disco bangers which are impossible to take seriously, but they work because they're not meant to be.

Strut is not only a great "nu-KMFDM" song, it's also a great pop song. K should've stayed with the Spice Girls IMO. vOv

Nu-KMFDM lacking self-awareness is an apt way of putting it. But yeah they still manage to put out some pretty good tracks. And I think their live show is on-point again after a rough start with the stable line-up. (Loving Strut by the way.)

The modern-era song that most stuck in my head is this one:

That would sound tired even in the futurepop era if you ask me. It's banal and repetitive, and not in a good way.

I think WWIII remains the last good KMFDM album. Hau Ruck has some decent tracks, but it feels more like an extension of/companion to WWIII than a separate album.

Although, I think they should get back to the sound they had in More & Faster, so what do I know?

Hah, I barely knew any Pig material when I went and saw them last year but figured it was more KMFDM people than an actual latter day KMFDM show would be since three regs were there and K is just capn k and some hired goons these days. Esch even had a set of his own were he busted out a bunch of old K stuffs.

When I was an air-headed 19-year-old I met Esch after a show which was not long after KMFDM had split. This was probably 2004-2005 or so. I asked him :words: "so why not KMFDM???" and he almost did this to me:

Pretty funny in retrospect though and I had a good time at the recent Watts/Schulz/Esch tour. Going back.

I showed up to a KMFDM show with a slick idiot jacket right after the split, it was good stuff standing in the front row holding it up.

Really liked this album. And there's an additional treat for all Seabound fans. I was listening to it an suddenly realized that one of the songs sounded very familiar. Turns out the song Murder is a new version of the same song from Seabound's first unreleased demo.

Remember the early 90's when Ministry were at the top of their game and that legendary tour for The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste was a who's who of B-Sides (I miss that magazine) artists and features? Remember how In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up had a phenomenal live version of "So What?" and a cathartic "Stigmata" but yet it was only six tracks and felt like a cheat? Especially when the VHS included the opener "Breathe" plus that really neat "Pledge of Allegiance/Land of Rape and Honey" closer?

Well YOU are mostly in luck because those guys released a live album from a 1990 show, that's a hefty fourteen tracks including the Skinny Puppy cover, PIL cover, and a lot of Biafra. Sadly, I don't think the Pledge made it to this recording but still it sounds pretty nice. As I understand it, they took out a lot of the overdubs that were added to the live EP and so the vocals are more prominent?
