What is an [:SITD:] show like without Tom? I felt like he was such an integral member of the group and it would be odd seeing them without him on stage anymore.

Anyone know of modern Chinese acts in the electro-industrial vein?

Weepingstar (泪星) is the only one I know of. They're almost like something from the early 00s Digital Hardcore Recordings catalog shifted to a different culture and modernized. Kinda takes me back to the days of discovering weird hardcore techno on mp3.com. They have a couple of cool videos. There must be a lot more in such a large country, but I haven't the slightest idea where to look.

The Taurus didn't offer much for drivers craving the sport sedan experience. That changed with the 1989 debut of the Ford Taurus SHO (for Super High Output), a Q-ship of the finest order that offered up a high-revving Yamaha-designed V-6 engine and a tight sport suspension.

IIRC Leeb only knew bass synth in his brief Skinny Puppy foray but surely the old chap has picked up a thing or two in 40 years.

I can say for certain he also know hows to beat on a drum because he's done that at every show I've seen since like 1993.

Megamarm
I’ve heard his workflow with Chris Peterson was similar; he would write the bass lines and tell Chris what to do.

I’m willing to believe that he does actually know how to use a DAW but he’s probably not a master.

He’s had about a billion musical projects over the years with the same 4-5 people, so I’m also curious what sound he didn’t think was captured by one of the existing names.

The new Ashbury Heights ... collection? ... is out.

It's 25 tracks and all over the place. Definitely some great stuff.

My brother points out You and Me Apart From the World is some clear tribute to Van Halen's Jump, and I can't disagree. It just seems so out of place in this genre

https://youtu.be/IuQJG30wmAY?si=NzeRxO-RetBhhy7f

The one that weirds me out is the next track which I can't place which exact nerd rock band it's paying tribute to, definitely feels like it's referencing something.

https://youtu.be/RBMp_8ge_N8?si=lotTVJhdWXmaWRLc

It's a lot to go through though and I need to spend more time on the excellent tracks. Kind of a fun project to put all these ideas out there though.

Just saw Marilyn Manson at the Fillmore and he killed it. I'm just surprised I got to see him outside of a huge arena show. I heard that on his last tour 4 years ago he was chonky and slurring his words, but he was clearly on top of his game. They played a pretty good mix of his stuff, mostly focused on his older hits. I got to hear Great Big White World and Coma White, so I left happy.

It's generally hard to do huge arena tours after you've been outed as a monstrous abuser.

I got the Millennium Remaster and I like some of the remixes Internal Combustion is really good, I think it's the last B Side from that era I hadn't heard. The actual remaster feels a little too clean. I have to listen to the original, but my first sense is they de-emphasized the guitar samples, and I love how ugly those sound. But I'm not sure how you'd remaster the album and really improve it, so maybe tweaking it so people who didn't like it as much will like it is the way to go.

Or maybe I'm crazy and that's not the case.

New Warmech remix is also out and it's Heatmap with MVTANT. Pretty good.

I think so, the guitar samples were the main reason I never listened to it back in the day and they weren't nearly as distracting on the remaster.

I hope it doesn't result in the kind of muddy soundscapes I expect from modern FLA. I like that you actually pick out distinct samples on the old album.

Every element is clear and distinct on the remaster. For people like me who think C-Tec's Gesselshaft is the coolest thing ever because of ugly downsampled guitars it doesn't sound as cool but I think most people will like the remasters.
