Super-hyped to see Tom Shear again this Saturday. An awesome DJ/promoter, DJ Lazarus, opened a great "appropriately-sized" venue for this poo poo in Toronto. The scene is/was withering because apparently fans couldn't afford it.

In what will probably come as a surprise to no one, Al is taking Ministry back out on the road again, only this time he's playing songs from the With Sympathy and Twitch years. https://www.brooklynvegan.com/ministry-playing-with-sympathy-twitch-material-on-squirrely-years-tour-w-nitzer-ebb-thrill-kill-cult-more/ Die Krupps on all the dates except one, with Nitzer Ebb and TKK splitting up other dates. I think "We Believe" still fucks.

Al did say he was going to do another album and then call it quits so the question is if this will be that album or if he'll release another album of new material on top of it. Bummed that Nitzer Ebb is leaving the tour right before Boston, would rather see them.

I would probably go see this but not coming to Tampa Bay. I love With Sympathy and Twitch. I know With Sympathy specifically has a big following among 80's synthpop/wave/whatever enjoyers. Al has definitely done a 180 from disowning it and burning the masters to touring on it. I remember owning a With Sympathy tape. Literally the first CD I ever purchased was 12" singles.

He said he was going to re-record With Sympathy, and then do one final record, which was going to include Paul Barker. This is evidently the former, not sure if the latter is still on track. Twitch was my first CD that I purchased with my own money. Think I'll pony up for this tour. Oh bummer, She's Got a Cause was my favorite track on With Sympathy but it looks like he's just doing the greatest hits from that early era.

Oh I didn’t realize this new album will have re-recorded songs. I……do not have high expectations.

Over The Shoulder [CD ONLY] I think the top of my list from that era would have been a re-recording of The Game is Over. Listerine fucked around with this message at 23:49 on Feb 11, 2025 |

Yeah I don’t think that faux British voice and tone can be replicated at this point and that was half the fun.

I like the early singles but With Sympathy is mostly a really bad album (Twitch is good) so hearing Al do funny metal versions of his old songs will be funny for me but I will probably be sad hearing Revenge because it is a great song.

I got tickets to Dark Force Fest in May. It's hosted in NJ. The primary reason is for Razed in Black. I think I saw tour about 15 years ago. Very excited to see him/them again. I'm in Denver, and 2 (3 if you count now LA band Seriphim Shock) local bands will be there. Dead on a Sunday (a lot of fun covers) and Whorticulture. https://darkforcefest.com/ ![]()

I predict Al Jourgensen will be recording new stuff until several months past the point of actual death in FLA news, this is a surprisingly good remix pile https://frontlineassembly.bandcamp.com/album/mechviruses i put it on, my mind wandered then i thought "hey what's this sounds pretty cool"

I don't know a lot about the individuals in Funker Vogt so I never understood that whole situation. My impression was that they were an explicitly left-wing, antiwar band, so I don't know how they got to be friends with Korn. It's strange to say "no politics just music" when your music is clearly political and the guy you're hiring was part of a project to do backpack rap for the NPD.

Industrial music is definitely well known for being politics free feel good jams so we can totally believe them for wanting to just make it about the music maaaaaaaan Also lol at Orgy as a headliner for one night

divabot posted:I predict Al Jourgensen will be recording new stuff until several months past the point of actual death When was it actually announced that these remixes would be an album. I remember when the first couple came out and I thought that it'd be cool if they remixed the whole album, but I don't remember an announcement until like, six months ago when they'd released half the tracks as singles already. But hey, it's good and makes me want more.

Finally saw Spike Hellis live last night and they were so great. I'd never quite got the hype before because while their recorded stuff is fine, it didn't blow me away. Playing live tho they absolutely slay, real good.

Cool reminder that Ministry actually played their old stuff last year and it was surprisingly decent. The stuff from Twitch still holds up really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dea23dks9Xg

cumpantry posted:duh, Twitch is a killer album I got a little frantic earlier because I couldn't find my copy, but I just realized I think I packed it when the Palisades fire in LA got a little close for comfort and I was afraid I'd have to evacuate. Anyway, that got me thinking about some of my older CDs because I upgraded my home stereo setup with a good subwoofer a while ago, and I've occasionally been giving old stuff a new listen to see how things improve with the better range of reproduction in the deeper frequencies. Long story short, dig out Front 242's gently caress Up Evil and listen to it on a setup with good bass if you haven't. Sounds so good.

back in the late 90s, my friend and i wanted to test his new stereo so we played the JG Thirlwell remix of Religion, which is still very awesome. his mom walked in and thought we bought broken speakers.
