Just finished my first music video since signing on with a label. Let me know what you guys think. I dropped the growly Ogre style vocals and just went with my natural voice. Huge move for me to step out of my comfort shell.

I think your vocals are lovely. And you make eyeliner look awesome.

I've been thinking about christian music for some reason. There's christian rock and christian rap but is there christian industrial?
VNV Nation has always been very spiritually uplifting to me, but I don't think they classify themselves as Christian.

Went to see VNV Nation again last night. It was at an outdoor venue in Austin in perfect weather. I have to say those shows have the most positive feel-good vibes out there. Okay seeing them outdoors in great weather was excellent.

At the same time, their new material kind of sucks. It's not bad. But it's like the goth-pop version of U2 now.

I'm officially one of the old guys who was disappointed they didn't play enough of the old stuff.

I'm not even 30.

:frog:

Oh hi fellow concert buddy.

I thought their new material was lovely. They did play Chrome, which is the song that got me interested in them in the first place. If Gas Mask Man was there, maybe they would have played more old songs. Blame it on him.

I'm so terribly sad they're not coming to Texas. :(

This makes me happy. They're one of the band's that got me into electronica/industrial music. I loved Invaders Must Die and I'm liking that video.

Tacking on to the "how'd you get into industrial music" pre-holidays discussion, I'm actually a newcomer to industrial. I found my way to it kind of belatedly because although I love (prepare your ridicule) Rammstein and NIN, I had never really listened to anything but metal. Now a friend has rightfully introduced me to KMFDM and Ministry, and I feel like I missed a terribly important boat earlier in life. I feel like I have a cold, unfeeling buffet of music set out before me, and I have no idea what to try first.

:hfive: I love Rammstein and am a fan of NIN. Don't be ashamed. The husband is much more into metal but we find common ground through industrial metal acts.

Apparently Til Lindemann, of Rammstein, released an English-language album trying to outdo Combicrist: http://www.skillsinpills.com/main.html#music
Actually, after listening to a few bits I think this might be better...

I really loved the Skills in Pills album. Not as much as Rammstein, though. I do agree Til sounds so much better when he sings in German instead of English.

So I moved from Austin to Denton, TX.

Cheap rent! Good for someone who makes his living as a writer and editor. (My shitposting belies the fact that I'm a pretty good writer.)

I drove 45 minutes to see Seabound last week. Well here's a fact: Two weeks from now, High-Functioning Flesh is playing ... here in Denton.

Turns out, I picked the one small town in America that has industrial shows. How great is that?

I know that Austin had Elysium for an industrial-type music venue. Have you found any venues in the Dallas area similar to that?

Maybe start with Cubed, that album is very nearly perfect.

Thanks for the recommendation! I found them on Spotify and I'm going to listen to them for the rest of the day.
