It could be that after a certain dose of their albums, no matter where you start, you reach your maximum lifetime limit of KMFDM and lose interest in them.

A sound theory, I remember briefly owning a record by them and never having the urge to listen to it/them again.

But there's an unfortunate trend in industrial music of bands starting out electronic and being really cool/interesting/different and then adding guitars and just going "chugga chugga chug chug" on every song.

I'd have nothing against the guitars if they were played by persons cabable of more than drop tuned chugs on the lowest string. White noise would be about just as interesting. Other thing is if youre going to use distorted guitars you'll need to atleast doubletrack them and add a bass, otherwise it'll just sound weak/wrong. Doing so also takes a lot of the frequency content and you'll lose space for the interesting stuff.

I'm still mad at the 90's industrial rock garbage.

Yeah, distorted guitars are a frequency hog and push everything else out of the way. Guess that's why I resigned myself to the fact that there will never be any good industrial metal outside maybe Fear Factory's Demanufacture, and that's mainly just some bleeps and bloops and pads floating in the background behind the guitars.

I think Strapping Young Lad's City pissed all over FF but the electronics are similiary minimal.

W424

City was kind of earnest teen angst, I fully agree that Devin went all wacky all the time afterwards.

Edit. The best guitars & electronics stuff for me was Neurosis' trough silver in blood & times of grace. They have nothing to do with traditional industrial metal but they were just amazing.

Congratulations for the positive reviews you guys are getting, I need to pick up your album soon. I wanted to see you at Infektio the other week but couldn't make it, unfortunately. Also paying 10 € for a 30-minute set would've been a bit steep (since I'm not in the least interested in the actual club bit), but it's not like you guys can do much about that. I suppose you'll be playing in Helsinki sometime again, though.

"Ever since the first fan-made nightcore song emerged on YouTube, there have been few sped up non techno/dance songs uploaded to YouTube labelled “Nightcore”. Since the midyear of 2011, the amount of sped up pop, rock, hip hop/rap songs labelled “Nightcore” on YouTube increased rapidly. Some of the songs were great hits, accumulating millions of views. After the bloom of “fake” nightcore songs, nightcore was misunderstood as sped up and high pitched version of any song."

Fascinating.

reminds me of a more cyberpunk youth code. normally at industrial shows i'm one of the youngest people. not here, though it's more punk/gabber. i was greeted by about 40 moshing goth-anime teens and they made me feel like a grandpa.

At first I was like ”ewww, sounds like Doom soundtrack, if they bring in guitars or some shouty dude I’m closing the tab” but it was pretty ok.
