I just discovered the OP and I'm not reading 2,000 posts to find out, but has anyone mentioned Razed in Black? They haven't done too much (or anything) since '03, but they're pretty "authentic."

deong posted:I love the hell out of Romell Regulacion. He also goes under DJ RiB and Transmutator for house stuff. But like you said, he's basically disappeared from the music scene. I saw him at Black Sheep in Co Springs long ago, and it was the best thing ever. He's a short man, at like 5'4" when wearing platforms. Yeah not to post the same song again but he remixed Oh My Goth into a trance-ish/EBM sound that works (warning: Suicide Girl montage ahead). Love the song title for being irreverent and not taking anything seriously. And goddrat the new Blutengel album is good and I really like it. The shame is overpowering.

CAT rear end now!!! posted:I have come to the realization that liking Blutengel is nothing to be ashamed of very simply because Blutengel owns. I might actually have to get the box edition of Monument, it sounds so good. Omi-Polari posted:Yeah, I thought it was great, and then it actually got better the more I listened to it. It has these insane VNV Nation style anthems on it that are just absolutely killer. They make the vampires work just fine but that Lucifer song made it hard for me to like them for a long time. The chorus was so badass but the cat scare piano and SHE NEVER FIT IN broke my irony meter. And I watch Faderhead's music videos. e: not much about vampires in Monument, I guess... is anyone else getting Ashbury Heights vibes off of it? They're popular now they suck. That's really amazing though for an underground goth group, but this is Germany we're talking about. I've seen a live video of Lucifer so you can enjoy that. They've never done an American tour so I haven't seen them.

I don't like their vocal style and it's definitely on the smoother side than terrordeathmurdercore or whatever the hell. But not EBM?

The new Aesthetic Perfection reminds me of some of Celldweller's stuff. It doesn't feel as aggressive/danceable as their older songs.

I'd stomp to it, but the music was pretty good without the stupid chorus. I try not to have high expectations for FLA.

The jerks from E Nomine who toyed with my heart by not releasing anything for years and years have started a new band Schlafes Bruder ("Brother of Sleep"). They released an album in December and did a music video for E Nomine's last unreleased demo. It's... it's a thing.

Sorry for posting industrial in the Monsanto thread, but here's a pretty heavy group I've been listening to ever since Aesthetic Perfection went soft. The soundbite/chorus almost excuses the existence of that terrible Doom movie adaptation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QRQDmsfQHg

That... sounds like Covenant. They are such a great group. I saw them live last year in LA and for being older than most of their audience they just kept going for two hours. Full energy, no breaks.

drat that's really disappointing right on top of Atlanta Shelter closing too. I like Bunker when I'm around that neighborhood and I'm skeptical how you'd step up from it in terms of a modern music focused big floor goth set up. We'll see though. At least there's still Ruin Hollywood and Malediction, which are also amazing and not as crowded.

Best: Covenant at Das Bunker in September 2012. The energy these guys had was amazing. They went on for two whole hours. I had to step off the floor in the middle it was so crowded and I was overheating. I don't know how they did it. Worst: Combichrist in... 2010? In LA. They did alright but the sound was messed up and they played all their hits early. Nobody cares about some forgotten song about banging cyber-school girls or whatever CC writes about. I left after they played Get Your Body Beat and so did a bunch of other people.
