well they definitely play with fascist imagery but my interpretation was them making fun of it, and making fun of the desire for that kind of thing in "bootlicking for a dream." i chuckled at the way the guitar player is standing with his legs spread while wearing the boy scout uniform. i think a lot of this is about how people try to construct a sacred canopy of meaning over the sky as a shield against the existential void of chaos of death. and that includes a wide variety of political and religious ideologies and modernism in general.
