I like this - I really do. But it sounds just like Funker Vogt with Suicide Commando vocals. I mean they even have a song called Killing Fields that isn't a FV cover. What am I missing here? How is this different from the NIN ripoff bands (besides being actually a decent band).

How bad in comparison to say, Halo In Reverse?

I was going to at least give them props for the Coil reference in the band name, but then I remembered How to Destroy Angels and went :ughh:

Actually I was thinking about it last night and a loser is me, because I even screwed up the lyric in my head and it's not in any way, shape, or form a Coil reference. :sigh:

I've never understood how And One got any love from anyone, every single one of their records has been mind numbingly boring for me. Save for Panzer Mensch, obviously.

Well, I can't fault you if they don't hit your taste, but like like Cat rear end said, they can be a bit uneven. However, they do have a wide range, so if all you like is Panzermensch then I don't know what to say.

And yes, they don't take themselves seriously, which is great.

I'm all for bands not taking themselves seriously, I listen to plenty that don't and love it, but And One just seem to recycle the same old boring poo poo forever. I still need good and interesting music to go with my fun at the end of the day. Although I had forgotten that Wasted was one of theirs and I'll admit that I liked this -

But really, with a library like they have and only a few songs don't make me think they're complete trash. :S
I mean, that Timekiller cover is horrible, he has this completely boring and unemotional voice that just ruins the song. Plus it wasn't so much a cover as it was a complete remake.

Now Laibach know how to do covers.

Yeah, if you don't like their style, that's fine. I included that Timekiller remix because And One seems to take remixes and do them more like covers - they take the song and remake it in their own style, much like Laibach. They do a great job of making it sound like the song was theirs all along. (I also thought it was amusing that they did a PP cover).

Now of course, since you don't like that style then I'm sure their "covers" will leave you flat.

Cat rear end, ah you have a treat in store for you. I've seen every Laibach tour that I've been in the path of since Macbeth, and they're fantastic. :hfive:

I've never heard of Digital Gunfire, but I'll definitely look into that. It's about time I stop mooching nice loud music from friends.

"Winamp playlist on shuffle" is a pretty accurate description, but often times mixes or new beats are used to seamlessly lead into the next song. 90% of the time, I don't notice a change in tracks until new lyrics start. I'm probably not describing this very well.

e: Okay 90% is a little generous.

It's probably just got a crossfading plugin turned on.

Ogre had a few eye rolling turns*, especially as of late. Stream of consciousness style stuff is usually scoff worthy, but he gets away with it I think when its combined with the sound sculptures those boys pulled off in their peak. I've liked the odd line here and there from the latter material, but (to me) lyrically nothing can touch that Too Dark Park and Last Rights material.

* "Assimilate" is probably one of my favorite classic Puppy tracks, and up there in favorite songs in general. However, every time I hear it I still think the "rot and assimilate/so hot to annihilate" sounds weird. I think it's just his use of hot there that makes it sound cumbersome.

And we'll not discuss his rearranging of history to afford a rhyme for Kent State (at least he corrected himself in later live recordings).

If you're listening to / can understand industrial music lyrics, you're doing it wrong.

Hahaha that's awesome. When Covenant and And One toured, they came to Detroit. As I was standing there watching And One, I happened to turn and Eskil was standing there, so I shook his hand and told him I DJed at the local Industrial club and that Covenant was very popular there. He smiled, nodded and said "Thank you." then stood there awkwardly for a few moments of silence.

Then I said "That's all, you can go." and he kind of went "oh, um okay..." and wandered off looking confused.

re: Delerium Semantic Spaces had a minor club hit in the form of "Incantation" but that album is still firmly seated in the electronica scene. If you're looking for ambient moody FLA instrumentals, then Semantic Spaces will probably be your threshold and the early stuff is what you want. Everything after Semantic Spaces careens off into goofy world music complete with Sarah Mclachalachalachlan and tribal chanting. Great if you want to host a yoga class for aging club goers. Not so keen if you are a CAT rear end now!! looking for an ideal soundtrack for conquering Finland.

I would say Flowers Become Screens is actually the bigger hit off that, at least around here. I recommend Delirium very highly, but as you say, it's not Electro-Industrial at all after Semantic Spaces- it's really closer to something like Enigma (which I also like). But it's more dance and club oriented, and if you like to watch the cute goth girls twisting around on the floor with their hands in the air, it's always a good thing to play.

It also has vocals by Kirsty Thirsk who I have to admit I'm very :swoon: over. She has the most amazing voice.
