Some of my favourite electro-industrial tracks of the past few years:

Mindless Faith - I'm Pretty Much hosed
KMFDM - Bitches (Pop Will Eat This Remix)
16Volt - American Porn Song (Glitch Bitch Mix by Cyanotic)
Front Line Assembly - Future Fail (w/ Jean-Luc De Meyer)
Everything Goes Cold - Bitch Stole My Time Machine (I can't find a youtube of the CD version, but I'm not too proud to pimp out my own remix)
Zombie Girl - The Darkness (Komor Kommando Remix)
v01d - Burnt Upon Re-Entry
Brain Leisure - I Know A Place

Just got back from 16Volt's album release party and live show here in Portland. I've never heard 16Volt in my life and they were pretty good, great show. Also loved Dead When I Found Her. My buddy and I bought them drinks, they were some pretty cool dudes. Apparently there's a huge industrial scene in Portland I've never gotten in touch with, and this concert really helped me make those connections.

16volt put on an incredible live show. Love those guys so much.

Rumour from the Skinny Puppy camp is that someone didn't like the new Puppy album (which is why it got shelved), and most of it ended up as the new ohGr instead.

The new Puppy is apparently a NEW new Puppy, explaining the delays.

Yeah. There are actually a few digs at the SP reformation in Jackalope lyrics and liner notes.

Ladies and sirs of SA, I present to you my greatest work:

I had to pretend to be my friend's husband to get a very drunk Eskil from Covenant to stop hitting on her. It didn't really work. Instead, he challenged me to a duel. A chess duel.

Which of course made it obvious to me that he had heard so much about THE LEGENDARY AD·VER·SARY, and he was just too starstruck to ask for an autograph! So I wrote the nice kid out one.

You can't really tell in this photo, but he was actually drunk enough to be totally excited by the autograph. This is when my friend and I couldn't keep it together anymore, and we had to flee the scene.

Hahaha that's awesome. When Covenant and And One toured, they came to Detroit. As I was standing there watching And One, I happened to turn and Eskil was standing there, so I shook his hand and told him I DJed at the local Industrial club and that Covenant was very popular there. He smiled, nodded and said "Thank you." then stood there awkwardly for a few moments of silence.

Then I said "That's all, you can go." and he kind of went "oh, um okay..." and wandered off looking confused.

He is a weird dude for sure. My DJing partner played an industrial-rave back in the 90s that Covenant were also playing at, and she played really heavy -- Hellsau, Patric Catani, that kind of thing -- and Eskil came up to her and said "KEEP PLAYING ZE HARD MUSIC! VE LIKE ZE HARD MUSIC!" Then danced all night in a suit.

I think there are FLA tracks from time-to-time that shake things up. Electrocution, Buried Alive, etc.

It's not fair to make statements like that without explaining.

Long story short: They wanted to tour Canada, and wanted an Ottawa show because they heard so much about how it's a great place to play blah blah blah blah. They asked for something crazy like $2500USD (back when USD meant a big hurt), which was totally bananas. Like, Download + Meg Lee Chin + Dead Voices didn't cost that much. Or Juno Reactor + Dr Alex Paterson. Especially crazy considering there was only one Funker track (F-117) that didn't clear the dancefloor. Plus the rider was full of all kinds of rock star crap like six different types of cheese and whatever else.

Anyway, we wrote back and said that there's no way we can do that, but we'd be happy to do a show where they get food/lodging and 100% of the door after costs. They said they can't do the tour if they don't have an Ottawa show, and that they can't do the show without the guarantee, and that it was 'only' 150 people at $20 a head or something. I said they have no idea what Ottawa is like and that I wasn't ready to lose $2K+ on a show so they could tour, and they said that "sometimes you have to take one for the team".

So I posted the offer / rider to our DJ night's online communities, and asked them how many people would come out to the show if we dropped the money. One person said yes, and a couple dozen other people started putting together a collection to pay me not to book Funker.

We sent the community link to Funker, they threw a poo poo fit and made a solemn ebm vow to never play Ottawa. (Which was met with much rejoicing by Ottawa.)

Also they are complete douchebag rock star twats backstage.

Yeah. Detroit's a weird city, man. When I DJed there, all my guaranteed pack-the-floor tracks were met with big 'meh' and the tracks that I wasn't sure about were all hits. Ottawa doesn't have a taste for Funker or a lot of artists like that.

Bella Morte are huge divas? I want to hear more about this.

They were on tour with Cyanotic and 16volt. Cyanotic is probably the single biggest draw for a non-legendary industrial band that Ottawa has, whereas I have literally never DJed a Bella Morte track in my life. They threw a public hissy fit when they saw they were booked to open the night, absolutely refused to go on before Cyanotic, and nearly got the tour manager to cancel the 16volt show. They said all kinds of amazing things about how Cyanotic "aren't on the same level" as them and whatever else. It was loving retarded. I told them they'd get a better reception if they opened. I told them they're getting paid the same. No dice.

So we put them on after Cyanotic. All the Cyanotic fans showed up late, missed the Cyanotic show, and spent the whole time talking very loudly during Bella Morte. You could hear them talking all the way past the completely empty dancefloor.
